Bio

Former network administrator, sysadmin, and Ruby on Rails developer, Riccardo has been in operations for 20+ years and still likes to spend time coding (better if Ruby). He loves engaging with customers and help them run their operations reliably and successfully in the cloud. Riccardo loves caipirinhas and 🍷 Amarone, playing 🎹 piano and 🏊🏻🚴🏿🏃‍♀️ triathlons; he's been passionate about Mathematics since he was 4.

He's in love with Ruby, coming from Basic > Pascal > C > Bash > Java > Prolog > LISP > C++ > Perl > Ruby > Python > Go (in chronological order).

Areas of expertise

I've been in Operations for 20 years #as a Network Engineer (working in NOC). In Google I specialize on:

  • SRE (Site reliability Engineering)
  • How Google does Software Development, Culture, Teams, Operations.
  • AI (mostly around Gemini)
  • Ruby (see my activity in rubyevents.org)
  • Pulumi
  • GCP foundations (Infra: GCE, "landing zones") and all the experience I matured in 7 years of Professional Services with big customers in DACH.

Code proficiency:

  1. (AWESOME) Bash
  2. (GOOD) Ruby
  3. (AVERAGE) Python, Pulumi (with Python because.. pulumi/pulumi#132)
  4. (LOW) C, C++, Java, Go, Perl, PHP, Prolog, Terraform
  5. (BAD) Javascript/Typescript. I dream of a world where you can choose your own FE language and not stick to ****script.
