Apologies, don't want to treat this issue board like a forum, but before I purchase / be the guinea pig, wondered if anyone had used a BCM94360NG with HaC-Mini and had any success?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Broadcom-BCM94360NG-WiFi-Card-better-than-DW1560-BT4-0-Adapter-802-11ac-1200Mbps/283783627652

Did a search but could only find links to it, no reports of anyone actually using one.

By success, I mean having it natively supported without any changes being made to specifically support it.

I myself have not tried it but would be very interested to hear how it goes.

Basically I don't think this is an Apple Airport Card. And searching on Taobao (native AliExpress in China) there's no result about this BCM94360NG, which is very weird. The picture is not photographed but basically a drawing. With all of these, and shipping from China, I would think there's something not quite right XD.

But hope you'll have a good result. Anyway I do suggest using an Apple Card, whether if you're using a flex cable adapter or giving up a M.2 slot.

I already had an Apple Airport Card, adapter and associated cables on order. My colleagues at Broadcom insist there is no such part BUT also conceded it would be easy to build using existing components. Only time will tell.

TL;DR: Yes! I can confirm that BCM94360NG works really well! NO PATCH NEEDED!

After reading this comment #191 (comment) and carefully inspecting what the listing says, I decided to give it a shot. Because the listing says the seller is based in the USA, I was hoping the card to arrive in at least two weeks. Oddly enough, the seller is actually based in Shenzhen and the card was shipped out by SF-Express the very next business day. Within 24h I have received this card.

Upon the first boot after installation, Wi-Fi was already up on the login screen. After logging in, the system just couldn't discover my Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard, although my NVIDIA SHIELD TV in the next room was instantly discovered.

Of course, I wouldn't want to give up that easily. I rebooted macOS, and now everything seems to work! I even tried several reboots and everything still works like a charm, including AirDrop & Continuity!

PS: I'm on macOS Catalina 10.15.3. I haven't tested it on Windows yet (I have a dual-disk dual-boot setup) but I have no reason to think this won't on Windows.

PS2: My magic keyboard & magic trackpad works during system boot (so you can make changes to the BIOS or select a different boot device) and in the OpenCore picker UI. It's a BIG PLUS!

That's great news - thanks for the report @welladamm!

One thing I was excited for was the ability to use a bluetooth keyboard during boot to get to BIOS ("HID Proxy" mode) - this card should support that, like Macs do. Do you think you could test that please?

Can you share the vendor_id & device_id & sub device id or your 94360NG?
This can be found in the hackintosh tools, or in the "About this mac".

Looks like a great card, am looking to purchase one as well. Thanks for posting about it.

Are you able to report whether it remembers device pairings (e.g. Magic Keyboard + Mouse) after a power cycle, like Apple's WiFi/BT combo cards, so that we can use such HIDs for FileVault Preboot?

@JeffreyVIP

Tested.

In BIOS GUI, both below bluetooth keyboard and mouse works perfectly.

Press fn+F2 enter into BIOS though the chance is low due to fast post procedure(limited time window to activate bluetooth and press F2).

Issue: seems antenna connector is a little bit smaller than original intel WiFi card so the antenna connection is not tight.

@BCMOSX86 Strange, this is very similar to the fix my eBay seller offered. Here is my reply:-

I am an engineer by trade so I have already tried your suggested approach using a micro clamp. The problem is that even with the clamp in place, the interior pin does not make a solid connection with the internal receptacle and WIFI reception is reduced to approx 8 metres. If I apply any more pressure to the clamp, I fear that I might permanently damage the NUC IPEX4 plug.

hepto commented Mar 4, 2020

Hmm, I haven't received mine yet and now I am worried about how to secure the antenna if it is loose. Where does one get a plastic guard like that?

Bit of a shame, thought this was the perfect card as I didn't really want to have to do any 'hacks' - in software or physical!

@glendonyeo

This should be known issues according to seller.

Their official shop at taobao offering me the same solution on this

Maybe consider to re-solder a standard IPEX 4 connector on the wireless card ?

@komax74 @shadowed87 i don’t think you’ll get much help on here as this is for macOS on the Intel Hades Canyon NUC only I’m afraid.

All I can say is it works in windows on the NUC.

@BradleyHo

@komax74 I'm not able to have the BIOS recognize the Bluetooth but Wi-Fi is working on Catalina. Before I wiped my 9570, I tested the Fenvi BCM94360NG and Wi-Fi worked, Bluetooth was also recognized. Right now, Bluetooth doesn't work and I suspect it has to do with USB port mapping of the USBInjectAll.kext USBPorts.kext and SSDT-USBX. I also can't get AppleALC.kext to work with the 3.5 mm headphone jack but that's irrelevant to this topic. Will possibly give the port remapping if I'm actually motivated. I planned for a Hackintosh triple boot setup along with Windows and Linux. So far, macOS is stable.

@shadowed87 I had Windows 10 2004 to work with the driver from the Fenvi website only by installing from the .inf and not .exe. For some reason, the InstallShield installer was giving me errors. Wi-Fi worked after that, Bluetooth was also recognized by Windows but I didn't get to test it because I wiped everything and started my Hackintosh build. I didn't experience any crashes after installing the drivers on an XPS 9570 though.

I installed the inf file as you said.
Now the wifi card is detected, but as soon as I select a connection, windows freezes completely!
Again, clean windows install, wifi works with wifi usb dongle or my original killer wifi card.
I really suspect something strange with the windows driver (macos works fine)...
The only way I have to boot windows is to disable wifi on the bios, or remove the card....

You can download here the bootcamp utility that I did

Then Go to => Device Manager => right click on the unknown device
=> find drivers on this computer => Select the the downloaded folder "WindowsSupport/$WinPEDriver$"

He will found wifi and bluetooth drivers there ;)

Look to this dortania link => here

I had to redo it twice too understand mistakes, and make it works.
But after that Bluetooth and Wifi works like a charm !

I just got one of these cards and installing the driver from fenvi's site causes my Windows installation to completely freeze after a few seconds, and my computer freezes on the spinning circles during subsequent boots. The driver download on fenvi's site seems to go to a desktop PCIe WiFi card's driver, which I'm assuming is the cause of the crashes.

I see some people saying their Windows Update downloaded a driver for their cards, but mine doesn't seem to do that.... I'm on Windows 10 2004 if that makes a difference. I'll try starting with OSX and use the Boot Camp drivers instead and see if that changes anything.

What kinds of WiFi 5Ghz speeds are you guys getting with BCM94360NG => Mine seems to be capped at ~200 Mbps (Internet is 1Gbps). Everything else works just fine. I'm wondering if it is the connectors or if I'm expecting too much out of it haha! I want to avoid opening up the system and checking again!

When I use the 36 channel, I got around 200Mbps speed. But when I use the 149 channel, I can get full 867Mbps speed.

i have this card in am asus z370-i, i did the usb port mapping and set up hs14 as internal back when i was running clover. under opencore i reused that, but i am new to opencore and havent refined my setup with it yet.

anyway - bluetooth works, and works in the UEFI bios and clover/opencore picker too.
magic mouse, trackpad, keyboard, and logitech g604 (bt mode), iphone and ipad all work fine.

But - I can't get any of my headphones to work. Bose QC35, and airpods pro pair, but will only play audio that 'skips' so badly that 90% of it is gone. They both do the same thing under windows too.

My only clue so far is that I was able to get airpods to pair and play under ubuntu linux (they wouldn't pair at all), by changing the bluetooth mode from 'dual' to 'bdedr'. up until this point i thought i had bad antennas.

Since people were reporting mixed successes, I will report that the BCM94360NG card worked nearly out-of-the-box for me with all the latest versions (macOS 12.3.1 and Windows 11). Easy to install as it requires no modifications to swap. Mac simply worked (including auto-unlock, apple pay in safari from phone, and so on–but apparently best to wait to sign into your Apple account until after inserting the card, else resetting it in Keychain is very annoying). For Windows, I needed to install both the WiFi then afterwards the bluetooth drivers from http://en.fenvi.com/.

back to the freezing issue, POTENTIAL SOLUTION:

I've spent an ungodly amount troubleshooting this, this is either caused by a memory address conflict or driver conflict. The card conflicts with one of the PCIe root express ports. if you go to event viewer, under system logs, you will see WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. you can also see where it conflicts under system information - conflicts/sharing.

I can't explain why, but the only way I've been able to get rid of the WHEA error and freezing for me is by using a specific PCIe controller driver for my laptop, I have an intel 10875h CPU, Eluktronics MECH 15 G3R Laptop. you may also want to move around your NVME or SSD hard drive to other PCIe slots, that can also potentially avoid the PCIe conflict. It may not play nicely with some NVMe storage controllers either potentially, but I need other people to confirm that.

This is the PCIe Controller driver that fixed the freezing for me:

https://imgur.com/a/dB8TA2x

you can also change advanced Wi-Fi settings for better stability by disabling wake on magic packets and minimum power consumption

Broadcom Wifi driver version i'm using is [7.77.119.0]
