❔ Context

We are going further in our OpenSearch adoption and deployment. As we plan to use it as as long durability storage, we need to :

  • βœ”οΈ Plan snapshots
  • βœ”οΈ Backup index files Rubrik
  • ❔ Get a central console to manage PITRs from a central console
  • Central console for restore

As Open Search makes it possible to search in passed snaphots (like for Oracle Table snapshots and Flash Recovery Area), it's already useful but we wonder if we could get some kind of integrated BACKUP/RESTORE console like on Oracle or psql.

Ideally, some native s3 ready to use plugins would be really useful.

🎯 The question

  • Is there any Open Source (or not) solution or automation that make this possible ?

I think this is a good question to ask on the OpenSearch Slack, https://opensearch.org/slack.html. I'll close this issue, but if the conversation does yield a concrete proposal for a feature of OpenSearch core, we can open it here. If it's a completely new project I think someone will have to go make a new repo for it to get started!
