Hi @edschema!

We currently have the CourseAuthoringOutlineSidebarSlot (which takes the whole sidebar space).
I think this slot should be deprecated in favor of this new structure.

We will probably update the Aspects sidebar plugin as part of this Epic, but we may have other plugins in the wild using the CourseAuthoringOutlineSidebarSlot.

I was thinking about whether it's worth adding a new button to the new sidebar layout to show the plugin content, avoiding break instances that use this slot.

What do you think?

Do you mean add a button below the help icon (?) for any sidebars using the to-be-deprecated CourseAuthoringOutlineSidebarSlot? That's a good idea... I'll find a good generic fallback icon; any plugin sidebars should be able to define a custom icon if desired, but if none, we can use a fallback icon. We'll have to think about what to do if there are multiple sidebars without icons.
