Open Bankruptcy Project

Free, open-source tools bringing transparency to the U.S. bankruptcy system.

What We Build

  • National Case Database -- 4.9 million federal bankruptcy cases across all 94 districts
  • Discharge Eligibility Screener -- instant screening tool ranking page 1 on Google
  • Educational Network -- 139 domains, 2,300+ pages of free bankruptcy information
  • Attorney Performance Analytics -- empirical analysis from public PACER data
  • Proposed Federal Rule 26-BK-3 -- accepted for consideration by the Rules Committee

Why This Matters

The U.S. bankruptcy system generates millions of public records, but accessing and analyzing them remains expensive and fragmented. PACER charges per page. Data is siloed across 94 federal districts. No free tools exist for consumers to check basic eligibility questions.

We are changing that.
