Is accessing _trace the proper way of getting default trace ID?

I couldn't seem to find a documented way of getting the default trace ID from a run other than _trace.trace_id. Is this correct or if you want to know the trace_id you have to generate it yourself with util.gen_trace_id() and assign it to the run?

Yes, passing it in is the recommended way to do this. You can also use get_current_trace, which pulls the current trace from a python contextvar, though that is more fragile.
