Taken me some time to report as I have been quite tied up with deadlines, however i believe June i realised credits were burning VERY FAST, i.e. i could run maybe 5-10 tasks within the 5hr limit. I use the cloud version, i cannot control what GPT model is used, reasoning or the speed. I see PLENTY of other users reporting the same issue.
I do have the CODEX app on my desktop (which i dont use often as i prefer the cloud since im on the move alot), however here i can then see the settings which were set on my account, as 1.5x , High reasoning on the 5.5 model - this was never communicated to me and im sure not to millions of other users, how can CODEX apply such a default to give us this 'amazing' new model, which BURNS through credits unfairly!
Since then to combat this ive had to set custom instructions to my codex account settings, which might help other users.
"ensure we use default speed, and dynamically set the modal and reasoning to be cost/credit efficient, to ensure we are utilising the right model and reasoning for the task. also on the end of each task, state the modal and reasoning level used, and a short description as to WHY. "
However, this is a very untrustworthy move set by the apps developers, as there are plenty of businesses here depending on this, and its very intruding to have these defaults set with no communication and means to change them back. CODEX Cloud needs to have manual user controls to combat this !!!!!!!!
What steps can reproduce the bug?
just by using the cloud version without the desktop app, users are defaulted to these unfair settings .
What is the expected behavior?
We should have controls to set users default models / reasoning etc ,for team wide or specific seats !

I think many people are due some kind of credit/refund for this, its not fair practice.
