Description

I'm the current owner, and I'm departing from InfluxData at the end of the week. @srebhan leads Telegraf at InfluxData, so he's the natural choice for in-house maintainer of these components.

From failing CI/CD action:

2025/01/09 18:26:17 codeowners are not members: srebhan

I believe that before we can merge this we'll need @srebhan to become an OpenTelemetry community member, which is a prerequisite to being a component code owner. Please review requirements here. Happy to clarify if you have any questions!

@crobert-1 I've registered to Slack and I'm working on signing the CLA. Given this works out, what else is required to take over this responsibility?

The link I shared provides all of the requirements to become an OpenTelemetry member, which is a pre-requisite to being a code owner. Is there anything left on the list that you haven't completed?

@crobert-1 the "actively contributing" and "find 2 sponsors" parts are the ones worrying me. I certainly can (co-)maintain the InfluxDB receiver and sender part but besides from this I'm currently not planning to actively participate in the project. Does that make sense and is that okay from your side?

I don't think you necessarily need to contribute to other parts of the Collector, but there would at least need to be some OpenTelemetry-related activity, from what I understand. Is there any issue related to this component that you've worked on before, or can work on now?
