desktop: Investigate how to improve the update rate

Desktop updates are working, but the update rate is still not where we want it. Here's our multiplatform desktop releases update rate:

• v6.0.1: ~50% of the users that installed it are still using this version
• v6.0.2: ~33%
• v6.1.0: ~20%

We should think of strategies for improving this numbers.

• Are auto-updates working or do users have to manually approve each update?
• Can we prompt users to update directly through the tray icon?
