Description
The OMI logo consists of two intersecting dashed-line circles.
The dashed lines represent our work of creating standards, which in a way outlines a template for software to use, drawing out a shape, which implementers can then cast their content into like a mold. Our standards are like dotted lines, anything can go inside of them, but having agreed upon lines provides a standardized shape for other puzzle pieces to connect.
The dashed lines also represent a sort of permeability, that we provide a space for people to move in and out of as they need to. OMI is a collaborative endeavour and we complement other metaverse groups, like the metaverse makers (M3), the Open Metaverse Foundation (OMF), (OMA3) and the Metaverse Standards Forum (MSF).
The circles are "empty" on the inside to provide a clear space for our members to interpret as they like. We consider OMI to be a trumpet for our members, and a gathering space for our members and ideas to come in and out freely.
The overlapping circles place emphasis on the requirement for interoperability, and the composability of our standards. As an example, our glTF extensions work can build on other glTF extensions, or how any metaverse protocol can be built to transmit content with glTF as one of its important pieces.
