Pandoc PDF output error with unicode characters

Try running pandoc with --latex-engine=xelatex.

Actually the fix was a mistake, it was reverted there.

In order to avoid that bug, simply chose a different latex engine: in the Export window, in the Settings pane on the left, under Pandoc, change "Latex engine used to produce PDF." from pdflatex to xelatex.
