Dev: npm install @observablehq/create shows overlapping red text

Steps to reproduce:

1. Enter an invalid project name. Ex: project-test - the project name can't contain a dash (-)
2. Enter backspace or delete on the keyboard
3. Notice the following red text

Independent of this bug, from the Platform's point of view, project-test is a fine project name. Is this being a bit too strict?

@mythmon ya, i'll relax to support dashes.

note: the overprinting behavior is different in different terminals. for example, in the vs code terminal, the delete key moves the entire text block up a row, leaving a trail of red error messages. this may be best solved by finding a more robust prompting library.
