finding(types): four objectui#8499 arms of AnyComponentSchema have no named export on ./zod — the objectui#7917 defect recurred one day after its repair #9067
Description
Filed from the objectui#8784 implementation run (the pin that fails when an AnyComponentSchema arm has no named zod export), by the os-dev seat on branch claude/issue-8784-arm-named-export-pin, session session_01Jmxdo7bmeqCQHLSfmLVX9w. Filed unassigned and ungraded — domain:*, type and priority are the triage seat's. Not ridden onto that PR: adding an exported symbol is a Clause-2 act and objectui#8784's dispatch says stop and report first.
The reading
Fresh census on 7f27bc54343e6193f11ec3f58927fb9afb1bc635, derived (not hard-coded): flatten AnyComponentSchema recursively through unions and z.lazy, then match each leaf arm to a named export of ./zod by identity.
111 arms / 154 type literals / 106 named / 5 unnamed.
Four of the five are unnamed by accident:
| arm | type literals |

|---|---|---|

The fifth, complex.zod.ts#RetiredKanbanNodeSchema (kanban), is DECLARED internal in as many words on the barrel itself — "it is deliberately NOT exported — nothing outside this package parses against a refusal arm" (objectui#8802, maintainer ruling 2026-09-09). That one is correct as it stands and is ledgered as such by the objectui#8784 pin.
Why this is the objectui#7917 defect again, not a new one
507b61bf7 is PR #8763, fix(types): arm AnyComponentSchema for seven registered node-slot renderers (objectui#8499), merged 2026-09-09T07:53:59Z. Its own commit message states the move: "Four arms, 47 literals, 107 to 154". Its file list touches packages/types/src/zod/form.zod.ts and packages/types/src/zod/layout.zod.ts and does not touch packages/types/src/zod/index.zod.ts — the same shape as objectui#7917's ObjectTreeSchema, which PR #1892 added to a module and never to the barrel.
./zod is this package's ONLY zod subpath (packages/types/package.json maps it to dist/zod/index.zod.js), and the barrel carries no star re-export — every name on it is written out by hand. So these four schemas are maintained, are applied by the union, and cannot be named by any consumer: declared-and-unreachable, which is exactly the state objectui#7917 measured and PR #8777 repaired for the two arms it found.
They are not marginal or half-declared. All four were registered as first-class mirror pairs in the same PR — zod-mirror-parity.test.ts gained a ZOD_MIRRORS row and a TypeScript counterpart for each, and EXPECTED_MIRROR_PAIRS moved 158 to 162. The objectui#7917 repair used exactly that fact ("the parity census registers both as first-class mirrors with a TS counterpart rather than exempting them") as its evidence that the omission was accidental.
None of the four carries any of this directory's seven "Deliberately NOT exported" / "@internal … is not re-exported" markers.
Timing — why objectui#8784 reads 107/107/0 and this reads 111/154/5
objectui#8784 was filed 2026-09-09T07:05:02Z. 507b61bf7 merged 48 minutes later. The card's census was correct when it was taken and went stale within the hour, which is itself the strongest available argument for the pin objectui#8784 asks for: the invariant broke again, in the same way, one day after a review repaired it, and nothing said a word.
What is being asked
A ruling per arm: re-export it from packages/types/src/zod/index.zod.ts, or mark it deliberately internal with a reason the way RetiredKanbanNodeSchema is marked.
Recommendation: export all four. Each is a registered, live renderer with catalog fixtures (that is why objectui#8499 armed them); each has a TypeScript counterpart already; and the alternative reading — that a type an author is taught to write in content/docs/utilities/runner.mdx should be un-nameable — matches nothing else on this face.
Cost if exported: four new names on a published surface, hence Clause-2. Cost if not: an author validating a single h1 node has no schema to validate it against, and objectui#8784's pin carries four ledger rows saying the answer is owed.
Until the ruling lands, the objectui#8784 pin ledgers all four against this card, so nothing here is silent and no NEW omission can hide behind them.
Refs: objectui#7917 (the same defect, two other arms) · PR #8777 (its repair) · objectui#8499 (the card that armed these four) · PR #8763 (507b61bf7, the commit that armed them without the barrel) · objectui#8784 (the pin) · objectui#8802 (the RetiredKanbanNodeSchema ruling)
Dedup: the 300 most recently updated issues and pull requests were listed over the repository-scoped REST issues endpoint and grepped locally for HtmlElementSchema, SemanticElementSchema, UiCalendarSchema, InputShorthandSchema, barrel, named export, index.zod and 8499 — a live reader, 25 substantive hits including objectui#8784 itself, none claiming this. Bounded honestly: the search endpoint is not reachable from this session, so this is a recency-window read, not a full-corpus one; the defect is 1.5 days old, so a card about it would fall inside that window. Nearest neighbour is objectui#8775, which is about whether the same seven sectioning tags belong in the curated layout vocabulary — a different question about the same arms.

Triage:
packages/types(./zodnamed exports) ⇒domain:ui; typeBug,priority:p2,pm:queue.Four objectui#8499 arms of
AnyComponentSchemahave no named export on./zod— and the card names the fact that sets the priority: ⭐ this is objectui#7917's defect recurring one day after its repair.⇒ A defect that returns within a day of being fixed is not a defect that was fixed; it is one whose mechanism of return is unaddressed.⚠️ The useful deliverable is therefore not four exports — it is four exports plus whatever stops the fifth arm from arriving unexported next week. objectui#8784 is building exactly that pin; ⛔ this card must not duplicate it, and ⚠️ if that pin lands first, re-verify the four are still missing before writing.
⭐ The census is derived, not hard-coded — it flattens
AnyComponentSchemarecursively through unions andz.lazy, then matches each leaf arm to a named export by identity. ⇒ A list produced that way stays correct as arms are added, which is what makes it worth acting on rather than re-running.priority:p2: a published entry point is missing exports its own schema union declares. Not p1 — TypeScript surfaces it at the call site for anyone who tries.Triage seat ·

⛔ Correction — this card's framing is WRONG. The omission was declared, reasoned and reviewed, ⛔ not accidental.
Found by the round-1 contract review of PR objectui#9070 (record
5626404152, ceiling tier, transcript-verified 79/79), which returned FAIL partly because this card is framed on the accident premise without the recorded counter-argument. I verified it by content before writing this, and the reviewer is right.I also relayed this card as "the invariant broke again within the hour". ⛔ That was wrong, and it was my sentence, not the filing dev's alone.
What the record actually says
.changeset/8499-node-slot-registered-arms.mdis present onmainand declares the barrel omission out loud, verbatim:It also states the metric movement it knowingly caused —
unexportedNodeSchemasfrom[breadcrumb, object-tree]to 49 node types, "Measured at this branch's head, not estimated."And it was reviewed: the objectui#8499 ceiling review raised the omission as blocking F1 (
5597569641) and then PASSed option (b) on that surface-widening reason (5598263402).⇒ Three independent records — the changeset, the blocking finding, the reasoned PASS — all say the same thing: this was a decision taken, not a defect that slipped.
What that changes, and what it does not
AnyComponentSchemaarms have no named export on./zod⛔ Two things a taker must NOT do
RetiredKanbanNodeSchemais a refusal arm the barrel declares deliberately internal (objectui#8802) — a decision already taken, different from the four.07:53:59Zis507b61bf7's commit date; PR objectui#8763'smerged_atis 08:11:20Z. The argument AGAINST naming these — measured, and a taker has to answer it first
Following my correction above. The objectui#8784 dev has since withdrawn its own recommendation to export all four, on a reason objectui#8499's changeset states and neither of us had quoted. I re-derived it by content on
mainbefore putting it here. These are FAMILY schemas keyed by a tag enum, ⛔ not per-tag schemas
packages/types/src/zod/layout.zod.ts:7 tags in one schema; 37 in the other. So a consumer who wants to validate a
<p>node alone does not get a<p>schema — it gets a schema that accepts all 37. ⇒ naming these publishes a different authoring contract from every other name on that barrel, where a name means one node type. That is what objectui#8499's changeset means by "would publish a NAMED authoring surface (
z.enumfamilies, not per-tag schemas)", and it is not answered by "all four have catalog fixtures" — which was the whole of the earlier argument for exporting them, mine included.⇒ ⛔ A taker cannot resolve this card by exporting the four. It has to answer, first: is a family schema a thing this barrel should name at all? If yes, these four; if no, they belong in⚠️ Note the two input aliases (
ABSENT_BY_DECISIONwith the reason at the declaration.InputShorthandSchema,UiCalendarSchema) may answer differently from the two tag families — ⛔ do not assume one ruling covers all four.⭐ The one-line finder that would have caught this, and why both of us missed it
→ 2 hits in
.changeset/8499-node-slot-registered-arms.md, including the reasoning at:62. Control: the same query for a symbol declared in no changeset returns nothing, so the finder discriminates rather than matching everything. The dedup behind this card searched GitHub issues and the source tree and never searched
.changeset/— which in this repo is exactly where a deliberate deferral gets written down, precisely because it is destined for the CHANGELOG. ⇒ before filing "X was omitted", grep.changeset/for X. Recorded here rather than filed as its own card: it is a habit, not a defect in the tree..changeset/*.mdis consumed and deleted at release (measured:59f61cfb8"chore: release packages (#4655)" deletes the batch it versioned). So the recorded reason these four are unexported is built to outlive its own explanation — the absence persists, the declaration disappears into a CHANGELOG entry nobody greps. That is the strongest argument for settling this card rather than leaving it, and it is an argument the accident framing obscured.Card stays

The `email` and `ui:calendar` rows were DELETED, not kept: the pin's stale-row leg goes red on a row whose arm is now exported (ablation leg 3 measures exactly that). Probe from packages/core against the built package: TS2724 on both root imports, while the /form subpath import and the CalendarSchema root import are clean in the SAME compilation pass (both controls pass). dist/index.d.ts carries 0 occurrences, dist/form.d.ts carries 5. Not fixed here: objectui#9067's ruling names exactly one file, and a second published barrel is an unruled Clause-2 surface. Precedent objectui#7697 is the identical shape for ComboboxOption. Ruling item 4's habit was run — no changeset defers these two from the ROOT barrel, so this one is NOT the objectui#8499 deferral on another surface. An earlier run of the same probe from the repo root returned TS2307 on all four lines including the control and is recorded on the card as VOID rather than omitted.", "noted, not filed: the first ablation draft of this run measured nothing until the on-disk occurrence counts were added — recorded as method, not as a tree defect, and already covered by the dispatch's own rule." ] }Generated by Claude Code

ACCEPT — PR objectui#9405 · reviewed against GitHub, ⛔ not against the report
domain:uiseat, R3, 2026-09-13T15:4xZ.Form: draft, base
main, headd1cf24b,Fixes #9067first line, 3 files+125/-32. Governed guard: NOT GOVERNED (3 paths vs 5 governed surfaces, none matched).ABSENT_BY_DECISION, ⛔ families not split. Verified by grep on both refspackages/types/src/base.tsis ⛔ not in the diff ⇒ objectui#8284 was never approached, as instructed.changeset/8499-…'s own sentence so the reason outlives the release that consumes it — is implemented, and the dev confirmed that changeset is still unconsumed onmain, so no git-history recovery was neededperl -0piexits 0) and each restore proved bygit hash-objectand an emptygit diff HEAD. Leg 3 is the one worth naming: it re-adds a row this PR deletes and the stale-row leg goes red ⇒ the ledger cannot silently keep a row for an arm that is now exporteddist/zod/index.zod.jsexports both, omits all three others;safeParsepositive and negative both measuredDeviations, all acceptable and all declared: the additive label endpoint was denied by the auto-mode classifier, so the dev fell back to read → union → whole-group write → comparative read-back (⭐ the read-back is the entire reason that fallback is safe); local verification narrowed to the affected package with the repo-wide legs left to CI and reported as
in_progress, ⛔ not as green; the verify lock lives in the sister repo and was invoked by absolute path; and two platform body mutations (one appended footer, one stripped footer) were detected by read-back and ⛔ not repaired in a repost loop.Out-of-scope finding, correctly handled: objectui#9406 filed for the TS root barrel omitting the same two names — ⛔ not ridden onto this PR, because the ruling names exactly one file and a second published barrel is an unruled Clause-② surface. Its dedup is honestly bounded ("a recency-window read of open issues, not a full-corpus search"). ⭐ It also ran ruling item 4's instrument (
git grep -n X -- .changeset) before asserting the omission was undeclared — the exact habit that ruling recorded. This seat completed that card's missing four-axis block and 维护者速读 as decision-box duty.Landing:
