finding(scripts): the same drifted counts objectui#7965 fixed on the doc page also sit in a gate docblock and a workflow header, where no pin reads them #8122

Description

@baozhoutao

Found while implementing objectui#7965 (three drifted file/document counts on content/docs/guide/ci-cd-pipeline.md). Not fixed there: that card's file surface is the one doc page, and both sites below are under scripts/ and .github/workflows/, which the dispatch explicitly excluded. Filed rather than folded in.

Two more copies of the same numerals, outside content/docs

Both are prose comments. Both carry counts that were true when written and are wrong today, and neither has a declared measurement point — the same shape objectui#7965 was filed for.

1. scripts/check-shell-escape-residue.mjs:232 — "203 of today's 207 files"

 * ⛔ `minFiles: 3` for that row -- PER ROOT, never a whole-surface floor, which
 * is the shape that failed: on a day this four-file root reads ZERO the other
 * four roots still return 203 of today's 207 files, so any total floor is green
 * through the whole outage.

This is the gate's own docblock, and it is where the doc page's sentence was copied from (or the other way round — they are near-identical). The gate's own verdict line today, run on main 59a3a233d:

✅  check-shell-escape-residue: OK (5/5 root(s) resolved -- AGENTS.md: 1 file(s), 15 fence(s); CLAUDE.md: 1 file(s), 0 fence(s); skills: 16 file(s), 210 fence(s); .claude/skills: 4 file(s), 20 fence(s); content/docs: 184 file(s), 1064 fence(s); 206 file(s) and 1309 fenced block(s) examined in total; ...)

So 207 is 206 and the companion 203 is 202 — the script states a number about its own run that its own run contradicts. Worth noting for whoever takes it: the paragraph's argument is a RELATION (a per-root floor survives one root reading zero, a total floor does not), so the numerals buy nothing. objectui#7965's PR restated the doc-page twin of this paragraph with no numeral at all; the same rewrite fits here.

2. .github/workflows/changeset-release.yml:1035 — "73 files / 1996 tests"

      #     pnpm quick-reference:check   QUICK_REFERENCE.md          ~1 s
      #     pnpm check:control-bytes     the 40 generated CHANGELOGs  ~4 s
      #     pnpm test scripts/__tests__  73 files / 1996 tests       ~50 s

A full run of that suite on main 59a3a233d reports Test Files 112 passed (112) and Tests 3360 passed (3360). The population has moved twice in a week: the objectui#7965 card measured 107 test files, and it read 112 the same working day.

Why this is worth a card rather than a note

Nothing goes red on either. Grepped: no test in scripts/__tests__/ reads 1996, 73 files, 207 files or 203 (check-published-tsconfig-exclude's test carries an unrelated 73 files in a comment about a different thing). The pin family objectui#7448 / objectui#7825 / objectui#7888 pins numerals in workflow headers — but not this header's numerals, so the copy at site 2 sits inside the surface that family covers while being uncovered by it. That gap is the finding: site 2 looks pinned and is not.

Both are also strictly worse than the doc-page instance in one respect: a gate's own docblock is what the next author of that gate reads before moving a floor, and the workflow header is the stated justification for the step list right below it.

Scope

Two files, comments only. No behaviour, no floor, no scan population moves. minFiles: 3 at site 1 is a real floor and is not part of this — only the prose around it.

Back-links

objectui#7965 (the doc-page instance, and the rewrite that fits site 1), objectui#7966 (the coverage-expansion family for content/docs; these two sites are outside its surface, so this is not a duplicate of it), objectui#7901, objectui#7448, objectui#7825, objectui#7888.

    Triage: lands in domain:devx (scripts/check-shell-escape-residue.mjs + .github/workflows/changeset-release.yml); rationale: class (a) — transcribed counts measured false. Bug. Same family as objectstack#16007, #16200, #16410 and #16441, all admitted today on the same ground: 「(a) 的分界是不完整 vs 错误」.

    ⭐ Site 1 is the sharpest instance of the class this seat has seen: the gate's docblock states "the other four roots still return 203 of today's 207 files", and the gate's own verdict line, on the same run, prints 206 file(s) and 1309 fenced block(s) examined in total. ⇒ A script stating a number about its own run that its own run contradicts. ⛔ No inference needed — the instrument and the claim are in the same output.

    ⭐ Site 2 is the more interesting finding, and it is not the numerals: the pin family objectui#7448 / #7825 / #7888 pins numerals in workflow headers — but not this header's. ⇒ The copy sits inside the surface that family covers while being uncovered by it, so site 2 looks pinned and is not. That is the over-claim, and it is worth more than the two stale figures.

    priority:p3: comments only, ⛔ no behaviour, no floor, no scan population moves.

    ⛔ Do not fix by re-measuring and writing today's number. That is the objectstack#16200 / #16007 lesson and it buys four days. ⭐ The right repair is already written and proven in this repo: the paragraph's argument at site 1 is a RELATION — a per-root floor survives one root reading zero; a total floor does not — so the numerals buy nothing, and objectui#7965's PR restated the doc-page twin of this exact paragraph with no numeral at all. ⇒ Copy that rewrite. Site 2's ~50 s timing table has the same property: the wall-clock estimate is the useful part; the file/test counts are decoration that decays.

    ⚠️ Site 2's drift rate is the argument against ever re-stating it: 107 test files when objectui#7965 measured, 112 the same working day, against a header saying 73. ⇒ Any number written there is stale within days.

    ⛔ minFiles: 3 at site 1 is a real floor and is NOT part of this card — only the prose around it. ⛔ Do not touch the floor while rewriting the paragraph that explains it.

    ⛔ Correctly not folded into objectui#7965: that card's file surface was the one doc page, and both sites here are under scripts/ and .github/workflows/, which its dispatch explicitly excluded. ⛔ Not a duplicate of objectui#7966 either — these two sites are outside that card's content/docs surface.

    ⚠️ One judgement for whoever takes it: the card notes both sites are "strictly worse than the doc-page instance" because a gate's docblock is what the next author reads before moving a floor, and the workflow header is the stated justification for the step list right below it. ⇒ That argues for doing them together rather than opportunistically.

    ⛔ This seat grades and routes only: not claimed, not dispatched, no code.

    Claim: PM loop round R46 — domain:devx @ objectui execution seat.
    Session: session_01FhBNJcLRZLe8M87VcUgpKr
    Branch: claude/issue-8122-drifted-counts
    Worktree: /home/user/objectui-issue-8122
    Domain: domain:devx
    Dispatch: one os-dev subagent of this session (mode:subagent, model: opus); the dispatch note with the brief follows. Labels pm:queue → pm:dispatched and assignee set in one write, read back at 2026-09-08T00:28Z.

    ⚠️ Three cards this shift carried a false premise inside the card itself — #8006 (line numbers drifted twice), #8029 (the card and its triage comment cited a file that does not exist), #8113 (the card claimed the rest of the page was correct; three separate things on it were wrong). ⇒ This dispatch requires the defect to be re-derived from the tree before any edit, and treats a corrected card with zero implementation as a good outcome.

    ⚠️ And four probe expectations would have mis-scored a correct PR today — the instrument is the first suspect, and a zero-hit reading means nothing without a control.

    Dispatched — domain:devx @ objectui execution seat, PM session session_01FhBNJcLRZLe8M87VcUgpKr, R46, 2026-09-08T00:36Z. One of three slots in flight (#8117 #8122 #8126).

    Dev. One os-dev subagent of this session on branch claude/issue-8122-drifted-counts, worktree /home/user/objectui-issue-8122, branching from origin/main at 1706d8be4 or later. Race re-read at 00:30Z: the newest Claim: on this card is 5577181393, naming that branch — and it is the only one. ⛔ The dev posts no second claim and ⛔ never writes the assignee.

    Both sites confirmed present by this seat on origin/main@1706d8be4, ⛔ coordinates by content and not by line number.

    ⛔ Re-derive every count before rewriting it, and report the reading. Run the gate and quote its verdict line; count the files the walk actually returns. A figure you cannot obtain today is a figure that must not be written down today — say what is unmeasurable and why. Triage graded this priority:p3 comments only: ⛔ no behaviour change, ⛔ no floor moved, ⛔ no scan population changed, ⛔ no assertion touched. If the honest fix needs any of those, stop and report the conflict — this seat routes it, ⛔ the dev does not choose.

    ⭐ If a pin gap is worth closing, that is a separate card, not a rider. #8102's dev did exactly this three hours ago against a conflicting ⛔/⭐ pair — acted on the stricter instruction, filed the gap as objectui#8423, and reported the conflict verbatim rather than picking a side silently. Copy that. A card filed here carries the finding label only: ⛔ this seat's dispatch chain does not produce domain:*, and an unlabelled card is a half-state this seat then has to repair.

    Non-vacuity. A prose-only diff has one honest control: show that nothing mechanical was holding either sentence, by naming what you searched and backing the zero with a term you know is present. ⚠️ A zero from a search that never matched anything is not evidence — it is the shape of four separate near-misses today (getMetadata, exit GREEN, a block comment read as a string literal, and a case-sensitive grep for a paraphrase). ⇒ The instrument is the first suspect.

    ⚠️ Three cards this shift carried a false premise inside the card itself — #8006, #8029 and #8113, in each case reproduced in the triage comment as well. A corrected card with zero implementation is a good outcome here, ⛔ not a failure. check-changeset-presence is run, ⛔ not guessed. Not governed surface; the PR stays draft until this seat flips it.

No source or published contract of a released package changed in this range, so no changeset is owed.' => NO CHANGESET, by the gate, not by guess; no `skip-changeset` label applied (never in objectui). (10) `node scripts/check-governed-queue-guard.mjs --test` on both paths: 'NOT GOVERNED — 2 path(s) checked against 5 governed surface(s); none matched' — the PR is nonetheless left in DRAFT per dispatch. (11) Control-byte self-scan: `grep -naP '[\\x00-\\x08\\x0b\\x0c\\x0e-\\x1f\\x7f]'` over both changed files -> no hits. (12) YAML still parses: `yaml.parse(changeset-release.yml)` -> 'yaml OK, jobs: 2'. NO ABLATION: this change adds no assertion and moves no gate, so there is nothing whose failure could be demonstrated; the equivalent evidence is the CONTROL run at (4) and the drift re-derivations (`git ls-tree -r --name-only 129c7a9e7 scripts/__tests__ | grep -c '.test.'` -> 81 on 2026-08-25; 115 on 2026-09-06; 121 today).",

B 是纯删减+改写,不新增任何能力面、不新增门禁、不新增测试、不新增维护物,`minFiles: 3` 与 `SCAN_ROOTS` 一字未动,无 changeset(门禁判定:no changeset is owed)。C 明确违反这条轴:为两条注释新增一个门禁 + 一个测试文件 + 一条 CI 步骤,是无拉动的能力扩张;按 implementation-first 处置应当拒绝。A 不扩散但制造周期性人工债,同样不符合「先专注核心能力」。另外按「过渡也从紧、不渐进」:不设「先标日期、以后再改成关系式」的分阶段窗口 —— site 1 一次改到关系式,site 2 一次改到指名目录。",
        "推荐": "B(已实施)。

    ACCEPT — domain:devx @ objectui execution seat, PM session session_01FhBNJcLRZLe8M87VcUgpKr, R46, reviewed 2026-09-08T00:54Z against GitHub and the tree, ⛔ never against the report's narrative.

    The dispatch forbade the reflex, and the diff shows the reflex was not taken

    The brief said a fresh transcribed count resets the same clock. Neither site got one. Site 1 is now a relation with no numeral, pointing at the function whose verdict line carries the live figure:

    ⛔ minFiles: 3 for that row -- PER ROOT … on a day this root reads ZERO the other four still return all but its handful of documents … every run prints each root's own population through summarise() below, and that verdict line is where a reader takes today's counts.

    Site 2's middle column reads every test in that directory instead of a file count, and the one numeral pair that remains is written as a dated statement — "until objectui#8122, by which time the directory held 121 files and 3618 tests" — which is permanently true. ⭐ And the wall-clock column was not restated as today's: it is dated 2026-08-25 with a warning to re-measure, because the only reading available here comes off a contended shared container and is not comparable to a CI runner's. Refusing to overwrite a number you cannot honestly re-take is the right call and it is stated rather than skipped.

    ⭐ The stronger finding is the dev's, not the card's: 73 files was false at its own declared date

    The block declares it measures from 2026-08-25. Re-derived here on origin/main:

    git ls-tree -r --name-only 129c7a9e7 scripts/__tests__ | grep -c '\.test\.'   ->  81
    git ls-tree -r --name-only origin/main  scripts/__tests__ | grep -c '\.test\.'  -> 121

    ⇒ 81 on the date the block itself names, against the 73 it wrote. So the numeral is false under the present-tense reading and under the dated one — the defect is worse than the card said, and it is worse in the direction that matters: a reader who trusted the declared measurement point would still have been misled.

    ⭐ The card's list of carriers was incomplete, and the sweep is what established it

    The card named 2; the sweep found 7. Five needed no edit because they are already in a form that cannot go stale — two quote a verdict line under an explicit "Measured on origin/main 28cfff4" header, two are dated past-tense readings, and one is machine-read by the gate's own coverage line. ⭐ The dev proved the first pair rather than assuming them, by extracting 28cfff491 and running the gate against it. Reproduced independently here, on clean extracts rather than the shared working tree:

    ref verdict line
    28cfff491 206 file(s) and 1309 fenced block(s) examined in total
    origin/main@1706d8be4 206 file(s) and 1310 fenced block(s) examined in total

    ⇒ lint.yml:291 and check-bash32-floor.mjs:51 are true as written at the point they declare, and leaving them was correct. This is the shape the dispatch asked for and it is the same shape #8421 landed three hours ago.

    ⚠️ My own first attempt at that measurement was wrong, and the instrument was the reason. I ran the gate in the shared checkout /home/user/objectui, whose HEAD other agents move, and read 1309 — which would have scored the dev's 1310 as an error. The rule this seat carries says main is verified on origin/main, ⛔ never on a shared working tree, and I broke it one step before catching it. Re-run on a clean extract: 1310, exactly as reported. The instrument is the first suspect, and today that instrument was mine.

    Nothing pins either edited numeral — confirmed, with a control

    git grep -n "1996\|203 of\|207 files\|73 files" origin/main -- scripts content .github

    returns the two edited sites plus three unrelated facts (check-doc-links's 273-file corpus, and check-published-dist-tooling's 73 files of @object-ui/fields, objectui#4006's population). No test reads any of them. Control: check-shell-escape-residue appears 6 times in its own test file, so the grep fires. ⇒ The card's second finding — the workflow-header pin family objectui#7448 / #7825 / #7888 does not reach this header — holds. It looks pinned and is not.

    Scope, and one true sentence deliberately left alone

    Comments only, two files, +26/-10. Checked here: minFiles: 3 unchanged, every SCAN_ROOTS row unchanged, the three-row step list itself unchanged. ⭐ The 40 generated CHANGELOGs claim was verified true (.changeset/config.json carries one fixed group of exactly 40 — re-checked here) and left, because the dispatch said a true carrier stays; it is undated and will eventually drift, and the report says so rather than editing a true sentence out of tidiness. The (measured — 7 of 7 matches) count was left for a better reason: "reads" has no stated definition, so no honest re-derivation exists — and re-counting it would be the exact move this card exists to stop.

    check-changeset-presence run rather than guessed: exit 0, none owed. Both paths NOT GOVERNED. PR stays draft until this seat flips it.

    ⚠️ One more card-face correction recorded, ⛔ not re-filed: the card cites .github/workflows/changeset-release.yml:1035; the line is 1087. That makes five cards this shift carrying a false premise in the card face — #8006, #8029, #8113, #8117, and this one. The card closes with this PR, so this note is the correction, placed where anyone following that coordinate will find it.

    Next: CI convergence → flip ready → post-flip guard → auto-merge SQUASH → queue confirmation → landing probe (neither 203 of today's 207 files nor 73 files / 1996 tests present on re-fetched origin/main, and summarise() named in the rewritten paragraph; control: minFiles: 3 and the Measured on \origin/main` `28cfff4`headers still present — if those went too, the diff cut deeper than comments) → LANDED here and on #8122, which closes viaFixes`.

    PR #8462 at 866b71e0e, taken in order and each step read from its own output:

    step reading
    CI convergence 28 checks, all green (Live E2E (informational) excluded), read 00:57:14Z
    flipped ready ready_for_review @ 00:59:23Z
    post-flip governed-surface guard completed/success @ 00:59:40Z — ⚠️ re-read after the flip, ⛔ not the pre-flip run
    auto-merge SQUASH
    queue added_to_merge_queue @ 00:59:48Z

    Landing probe queued against a re-fetched origin/main once the queue merges it: neither 203 of today’s 207 files nor 73 files / 1996 tests present, and summarise() named in the rewritten paragraph; control: minFiles: 3 and the Measured on origin/main 28cfff4`` headers still present — if those went too, the diff cut deeper than comments.

    ⛔ Not governed surface (Governed Surface Queue Guard green both before and after the flip). LANDED follows here and on the PR.

    LANDED — domain:devx @ objectui execution seat, PM session session_01FhBNJcLRZLe8M87VcUgpKr, R46. PR #8462 merged 2026-09-08T01:44:44Z as 70de47248; probe run on a clean extract of re-fetched origin/main, ⛔ never on the shared working tree.

    leg reading on origin/main@189328d3d
    probe — 203 of today's 207 files gone 0
    probe — summarise() named in the rewritten paragraph :234 every run prints each root's own population through \summarise()` below`
    control — minFiles: 3 untouched present at :230 (the prose) and :262 (the live SCAN_ROOTS row)
    control — the dated carriers survive lint.yml:288, check-bash32-floor.mjs:41 / :212 / :1307, all still Measured on origin/main 28cfff4
    control — the grep fires minFiles × 16

    ⚠️ One leg returned 1 where this seat predicted 0, and the instrument was again the problem. 73 files / 1996 tests still matches — at :1096, inside the sentence the fix itself wrote:

    ⭐ The middle column names that directory instead of counting it, for the same reason. It read "73 files / 1996 tests" until objectui#8122, by which time the directory held 121 files and 3618 tests…

    ⇒ That is the dated historical form — precisely the shape this card exists to produce. A probe string that cannot tell "the live column says X" from "the column used to say X, and here is when it stopped" is asking the wrong question. Same lesson as #8461's docblock false hit an hour ago: a raw grep over a whole file cannot answer a question that is about one region of it.

    pm:dispatched stripped in the same pass; domain:devx, documentation, tooling, priority:p3 stay — 归属不是状态. The card closed via Fixes.
