Prompt duplicated quite a lot in tmux history when typing at the top of a tmux window

Describe the problem you are observing.

Haven't done a bisect yet, but it feels like a regression introduced recently.

Steps to reproduce

1. open a tmux window with nu
2. type
3. enter tmux copy mode

Update: I tried nu 0.101 and it has the same issue. Maybe it's a long existing/duplicated issue, or maybe recent tmux/ghostty updates caused it?

It's hard to tell what you're describing. Maybe you can create a video? One thing that reedline has a problem with in some shells is duplicating the prompt with every char as you type. There are at least 2 issues for it with wezterm. The fix for that is to use the latest nightly wezterm or disable osc133.

BTW, disabling osc133 doesn't help, I have it disabled already.

The funny thing is if that's a long existing issue, I think I should have noticed it before, searching tmux history is a very frequent op in my workflow.

This looks like the same issue to me in reedline. I think it has to do with the entire left prompt, repl, and right prompt being redrawn with every character typed.

This is the prior issue I mentioned nushell/nushell#5585

I believe it comes from our initial design in reedline where the right prompt actually had a ticking clock so you could sit at the repl prompt and do nothing at all and the seconds would tick by and you could watch them.

if it's not this issue then I don't know what it is and the only way to find it is with git bisect. It may be easier to find if you can replicate it with one of the reedline examples.

To me, it only happens if I'm typing at the topmost line in the terminal, I think it looks like an off-by-1 calculation of prompt start position, or something like that. But I have no idea what role tmux plays in the bug.

could be a 1-off issue with what you're seeing. it's similar but maybe not identical to the issue.
