Adding a Search Bar to Node.js Documentation #49527

Description

@shivvamm

What is the problem this feature will solve?

The current Node.js documentation lacks a search functionality, making it challenging for users to quickly locate relevant information.

What is the feature you are proposing to solve the problem?

I propose implementing a search bar within the Node.js documentation, similar to the search functionality available on the MDN Web Docs. This feature would significantly enhance the user experience by allowing users to search for specific topics, methods, or keywords within the documentation, thereby improving accessibility and efficiency in finding the required information.

What alternatives have you considered?

While the primary suggestion is to include a search bar directly within the documentation, alternative solutions such as integrating an external search engine (e.g., Elasticsearch or Algolia) to index and search the documentation could also be explored. However, an internal search bar would likely provide a more seamless and user-friendly experience.

Implementing a search bar within the Node.js documentation would greatly benefit developers by saving time and improving their overall experience when using Node.js. This feature aligns with modern documentation standards and can help ensure that Node.js remains accessible and user-friendly for developers of all skill levels.

Thank you for considering this enhancement to the Node.js documentation, and I look forward to contributing to the continued improvement of the Node.js ecosystem.

    @ovflowd I think this is one of the things the new WebSite infrastructure was intended to address. Maybe this issue should be moved to the website repo?

    This issue is not covered by the nodejs.org repo, so nope. We intent to create the library that then would allow us to update the tooling here on nodejs/node api docs source. (tools/doc)

    But we have an issue on the nodejs.org repository for this already. You can reference this issue there and close this as duplicate or something of sorts
