Node version upgrade issue in Ubuntu 19.0.4

Version: v11.0.0
Platform: Linux HP-15-Notebook-PC 5.0.0-38-generic nodejs/node#41-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 3 00:27:35 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Every time, I am upgrading the node version, even after a successful upgrade its still v11.0.0

I have been using nvm install and nvm use every time but that too works just once and after that again I have to install and use nvm.

I want to upgrade it to the latest stable version of the node.

Please let me know if I am missing anything here or its some problem with Platform/OS.
