Model is downloaded correctly, du -sh apps/text2image_stablediffusion/ shows roughly 13 GB, but after downloading, unpacking seems to fail:

And the folder is afterwards only 430 MB in size, so the archive got removed.

Ah.. Good catch! I took the liberty of moving this issue under the stablediffusion app since it's responsible for downloading the model files. I should've also caught this while developing the helper app, TBH.

this seems like an issue with the archive_tar pear package

I tried to manually extract the model:

root@nextcloud:~# tar -xvzf models.tar.gz

gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

So the file is not actually gzipped: tar -xvf models.tar.gz works.

But I can see that we check the file extension when extracting:

I would suggest to correctly compress the file on download.nextcloud.com, the size is about 7,7 GB instead of 13 GB then. Not sure it fixes the above error, though.

In my case I'm running nextcloud in truenas scale I run this on the pods:

cd custom_apps/text2image_stablediffusion
curl -o models.tar.gz https://download.nextcloud.com/server/apps/text2image_stablediffusion/stable-diffusion-xl-base-1.0/models.tar.gz
tar -xf ./models.tar.gz -C ./models --overwrite

and the app/model now works
this confirms a problem with pear/tar although there is a manual workaround

once it works delete the ./models.tar.gz file
