The New Relic tracking core library is the base for all JS trackers in the browser platform. It contains the classes and core mechanisms used by the specific trackers.
New Relic Browser Agent v1.277.0 or higher.
Install dependencies:
$ npm install
And build:
$ npm run build:dev
Or if you need a production build:
$ npm run build
Add scripts inside dist
folder to your page.
If you want to know how to generate
dist
folder, refer to npm commands section.
nrtracker
provides a class called Tracker
that will serve as an interface with
Browser Agent, allowing you to manage and send events to New Relic.
First of all, you have to add a tracker in the core class:
var tracker = new nrtracker.Tracker()
nrtracker.Core.addTracker(tracker)
From this point, any event emitted by said tracker will be reported to New Relic:
tracker.send('EVENT', { data: 1 })
Tracker Core JS uses the New Relic Browser Agent to send data, specifically it uses
the recordCustomEvent
method. The default eventType
is BrowserEvent
, but it can be overwritten with:
nrtracker.Core.setEventType("MyEventType")
Go to NROne and run the following request:
FROM BrowserEvent SELECT *
Replace BrowserEvent
with your specific event type.
Adding ?nrtracker-debug=true
to any URL using this tracker will cause logs to appear in the console.
The log level can also be explicitely set in code:
nrtracker.Log.level = nrtracker.Log.Levels.ALL
All classes are documented using autodocs. The documents, generated with jsdoc, can be found in the documentation
directory of the current repo.
