I cheated and had to lookup how to use sed backreferences :(
My grep and then a sed isn't too elegant though, see if you can replace that w/ a single sed script. I also don't unescape entities.
I see why you're using Lynx- it renders the page rather than getting raw HTML. Hm, I didn't know that.
Since grabbing alt-text is desirable, and this is easier to do w/ raw HTML, replaced lynx w/ wget.
