Summary of Changes

Hello @nejidevelops, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

I've initiated an automated dependency upgrade to bring @babel/core from version 7.18.2 to 7.28.0. This crucial update is primarily driven by the need to address several security vulnerabilities identified in the older version, ensuring the project benefits from the latest security patches and stability improvements. The change involves updating the version in package.json and package-lock.json, which in turn pulls in updated versions for many of Babel's internal dependencies.

Highlights

  • Core Dependency Upgrade: This pull request upgrades the @babel/core dependency from version 7.18.2 to 7.28.0. This is a significant jump, spanning 67 versions.
  • Security Vulnerability Patches: The primary motivation for this upgrade is to patch three critical security vulnerabilities: a Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) in @babel/helpers, an Incomplete List of Disallowed Inputs in @babel/traverse, and a Prototype Pollution issue in json5. These fixes enhance the overall security posture of the project.
  • Sub-dependency Updates: Beyond the core Babel package, this update also brings numerous sub-dependencies and related packages up to their latest versions, ensuring compatibility and leveraging the latest features and bug fixes across the entire Babel ecosystem.

Code Review

This PR from Snyk upgrades @babel/core to resolve several security vulnerabilities, which is an important update. My main concern is that other @babel packages, specifically @babel/preset-env, were not upgraded. This version mismatch can lead to build failures or unexpected behavior. I've added a comment with a recommendation to upgrade @babel/preset-env as well. After updating package.json, please run npm install to regenerate the package-lock.json file.

Upgrading @babel/core is a good move for security. However, it's a best practice to keep all @babel packages at the same version to avoid compatibility issues. @babel/preset-env (on the next line) is still using version ^7.4.5. I strongly recommend upgrading it to ^7.28.0 to match @babel/core.
