What's the future of MMRecord after release of AFNetworking 2.0

I studied the MMRecord and I would say it's very good repository to use in a project. I'm not sure why I haven't checked MMRecord previously. I have recently started on a new project which is only of iOS 7+ and would like to know the future of MMRecord after the release of AFNetworking 2.0, especially now AFHTTPClient is gone from AFNetworking. Is MMRecord working on a new release and will it support AFHTTPSessionManager or will it work with AFHTTPRequestOperationManager?

Hi Akash,

First of all, thanks for checking out the project! I'm glad you've found it to be something that would be useful to you.

I'll answer your question a bit indirectly. One of the original design goals of MMRecord was to be networking-layer agnostic. It was originally designed during the ASI->AF transition, which lead to us wanting for MMRecord to support any networking system and yet be dependent on none of them. You can actually see evidence of that in the example projects. Only two of them use AFNetworking. The third actually uses Apple's SWRequest social framework.

Because of this, MMRecord technically supports AFNetworking 2.0 already. All you would need to do to use it is to subclass MMServer yourself and call the appropriate methods of an AFHTTPSessionManager or RequestOperationManager there.

That being said, I do want to create a new example (and corresponding MMRecord Extension) that implements the server class for AFNetworking 2.0. I hadn't thought about doing that yet, because all of my projects currently still use the last version of AFNetworking. I'll go ahead and add to my todo list to create that example and extension. But in the mean time, you should still be good to go with moving forward with AFNetworking 2.0 in your own project.

First of all, thanks for really nice (and less bloated, than RestKit) framework.
Regarding AFNetworking 2.0 - I'm using it right now, using pattern described by Conrad (subclass MMServer + extension).
Probably will clean it up a little and will make example next week.
So expect pull request soon.

Cheers Alex, that would be great. I'm hoping to have time this upcoming week to work on a different style of extension to both AFNetworking 2.0 and MMRecord thats more within the vein of how AF 2.0 was designed. I'm hoping to have more to share on that soon.

Good news. Check out the AFMMRecordResponseSerializer sub spec of MMRecord that I just checked in yesterday. The serializer is an extension to both AFNetworking and MMRecord that allows you to serialize MMRecord objects of of an AFNetworking request. Its pretty nifty, so check it out!

I haven't added an AF session manager server subclass yet, but that should be forthcoming.
