problem installing PyDesigner

When trying to install PyDesigner the following error occurs:

(dmri) rosella@vivi:~/PyDesigner$ pip install .
Processing /home/rosella/PyDesigner
Collecting cvxpy>=1.1
  Using cached cvxpy-1.1.8.tar.gz (1.0 MB)
  Installing build dependencies ... done
  Getting requirements to build wheel ... done
ERROR: Some build dependencies for cvxpy>=1.1 from https://files.pythonhosted.org/packages/e6/3b/6a6650ed48503c4e4b2f497ce40517fe427f3cfacfc8fb43ff52f89bc4c8/cvxpy-1.1.8.tar.gz#sha256=444068d4eda9ffcd43578895174489d4cef36b28ba7ae8a96ab9ef9571d2b4ff (from PyDesigner==1.0rc6) conflict with the backend dependencies: numpy==1.14.5 is incompatible with numpy>=1.15.

I tried to install cvxpy separately but the error persists.

Hi Rosella,

This issue was brought to light earlier today and has to do with how pip handles package dependencies - there appears to be a conflict between NumPy and CVXPY dependency check when using pip.

Since you're already using a Conda environment, you can easily circumvent the issue by using the Anaconda package manager. To do this, first activate your dmri conda environment with

conda activate dmri

Then, install NumPy and CVXPY by running the following commands one at a time

conda install -c anaconda numpy
conda install -c conda-forge cvxpy

Finish off PyDesigner installation process with

pip install .

Make sure your Terminal's working directory is set to the directory where your downloaded PyDesigner while executing the last command.
