Should mpv allow the screen to turn off when the player is paused?

On my Gnome (49) system the screen never turns off when an mpv window is on the foreground, in a paused or playing state.

Is this intended behaviour?

I'd prefer that mpv would only inhibit the screen "blanking" (set to four or five minutes by default on Gnome; / screensaver) when playing video on the foreground. If I leave a paused mpv window on a screen, the display will only turn off if the device has its own power-saving features. I presume that most LCD panels never shut down on their own, OLED displays likely do after some hours due to their burn-in risks — I've had some accidents which strain my OLED television.

By default, mpv doesn't inhibit the screen saver when paused. So this sounds like some gnome thing to me.

The display was never turned off due to the Caffeine Gnome extension, which I primarily use to automatically disable the warm night light for colour-sensitive applications.

There's no need to disable the extension — configure the 'allow screen blank' setting.
