Description

I've updated from version 1.35.0 to 1.36.1 and found out that using MiniExcelDataReader no longer works the same GetOrdinal used to return the index of the passed in column name, but the new version always returns 0 - this is a breaking change.

With the file above and the following linqpad script:

dataReader.Read();

	for (int i = 0; i < dataReader.FieldCount; i++)
	{
		var columnName = dataReader.GetName(i);

		var ordinal = dataReader.GetOrdinal(columnName);
		ordinal.Dump();
	}
}

When using version 1.36.1, the ordinal is always 0.

With previous versions (including 1.36.0) the ordinal is correct.

Thanks for the feedback, you can revert to version 1.36.0 for now. Version 1.36.1 primarily introduces new features rather than addressing critical bugs, so you can defer upgrading until the author releases a new NuGet package.

@izanhzh - yeah, that's what I've done. Pinned the reference to 1.36.0, till this is fixed in a future release.
