Youtube-dl hasn't been updated in 6 months, and it's rumored to be dead. As sites change, extractors stop working. Youtube-dl is decmposing and orphaned. Even before this, project staff let 700 PRs to fix or add extractors sit in que.

Yt-dlp has taken youtube-dls code base, started merging YTDLs PRs into yt-dlp, and have made fixes of their own.

gallery-dl already supports yt-dlp, also duplicate of #1850
