I've started this outreach via the Visual Studio Code Development Community Slack in the #authors-feedback channel
Here was the kick off message:
📢 Hi all -- I wanted to announce a new channel #authors-feedback specifically for extension authors to help me (and the broader VS Code team) better communicate/interface/support extension authors. Since I'm now on the inside, I would like to hear pain points (not specific GH issues though) and things you wish could be better, etc. Just FYI, I don't want there to be an expectation of specific action based on these discussions/feedback. I first just want to more open the lines of communication and hear your voices. We'll see how this goes, but I was also thinking about setting up a few video chat meetings with small groups of authors as well (no plan yet if this will happen, be a 1-off, or something that might recur)
