Serious freeze when opening first Terminal window

Steps to reproduce

1. Install terminal from Windows Store
2. Open terminal from start menu

Expected Behavior

No freezes, no blackouts

Actual Behavior

After starting first Terminal window for about 10 seconds there is a serious freeze including:

• terminal window freeze
• mouse cursor freeze
• total screen blackout
  

After freeze ends I can open new tabs or new Terminal window without another freeze. But when I close all Terminals then again the first will be affected by that freeze.

Changing default profile to Command Prompt doesn't stop those freezes.

I have the same problem and tracked it down to a video acceleration bug with Optimus (Intel + nVidia graphics).

Setting the GPU preference to Intel solves the issue for me.

The clue was my screen flickering and a bunch of errors about "nvlddmkm missing" in the event monitor.

Let me know if I can help further narrow down the culprit.

Update: after removing both drivers with DDU and letting Windows Update pick up the drivers, I can’t reproduce the behavior anymore regardless of the GPU preference setting. Might be a graphics driver issue.

Thanks! I set following in Graphic Settings for Terminal and the problem went away:

Changing to high performance makes the crash. Ticking the "Dont use optimistations..." box makes hard reset to my Windows.
Should I report it to NVIDIA?

I have same issue, but I have no integrated graphics, just one gpu.

I have the same problem, but when I updated the Nvidia driver (version: 572.83) released on March 18th, the problem was solved.
