[Regression]: No data dir in playwright-repot directory after merging blob reports - no screenshots in report

Steps to reproduce

1. Run playwright tests on seperate machines with shards and blob reporter and screenshots on
2. Gather blob reports and store them in all-blob-reports dir
3. run 'npx playwright merge-reports --reporter html .\all-blob-reports'
   4.Check 'playwright-report' directory

Expected behavior

There should be data directory with screenshots in it.

Actual behavior

No resources are copying from all-blob-reports dir to playwright-report. No ss allowed in report

Additional context

It's working after switch to 1.42 version with the same data in all-blob-reports

I can't repro, I did the following:

npx playwright test --reporter=blob --project=chrome
cp -r blob-report all-blob-reports

rm -rf blob-report playwright-report

npx playwright merge-reports --reporter=html all-blob-reports
npx playwright show-report

would it be possible to provide a minimal reproduction in form of a repository for us? Thats the easiest in order to reproduce such bugs. Thanks.

Sorry i can't share anything more than structure of directories all-blob-reports looks like that :

After npx playwright merge-reports --reporter html .\all-blob-reports

For version 1.52 its:

And for version 1.53 there is no data directory - made from the same all-blob-reports data:

Okay so I think I fixed it. I was only encountering this issue on github actions/

We were set to 1.52 in our package.json so when our tests ran, it would use this version.

Our report creation/uploading is done in a separate job within the same workflow. When the workflow ran
npx playwright merge-reports --reporter html ./all-blob-reports

I got the following warning

npm warn exec The following package was not found and will be installed: playwright@1.53.0.

I think the versioning mixup was causing this issue for me, I updated our package.json to us 1.53.0 and all is good.

I faced the same issue on github actions. Only index.html got generated but no data folder. My problem was that I ran the merge-reports command in the root directory but my playwright v1.50.1 was installed in a sub directory. Therefore I also got the same warning:
npm warn exec The following package was not found and will be installed: playwright@1.53.1

So my action installed v1.53.1 in the root directory.

Once I ran the command from the sub directory, it worked.
