on Mar 6, 2026 AI Assessment: Potential Bug
Analysis:
Thetable loadcommand is documented as supporting "full schema coverage" for Lakehouse: https://microsoft.github.io/fabric-cli/commands/tables/#lakehouse. The reported error message explicitly indicates that the operation is not supported for schema-enabled Lakehouses, which constitutes a deviation from documented behavior. If the CLI cannot load data into tables within schema-enabled lakehouses, this is user-facing feature breakage or, at least, a significant documentation/UX mismatch. The user appears to use the correct command structure, and the error message points to an implementation restriction. This is not a usage or path syntax issue, given that the path follows documented conventions for Lakehouse items.
The underlying API or CLI limitation for schema-enabled lakehouses should be clearly communicated in the documentation (if intentional), or the command needs to be fixed for schema support.

Thanks for raising this and for the clear repro details. The current behavior is expected. The feature isn’t supported yet, and the CLI is returning the correct error message. This isn’t a bug but rather a gap in functionality that we’re planning to close.
The team is actively working on adding support for this scenario through the underlying API. Once that capability becomes available, we’ll integrate it into the CLI as well.
I’ll keep this issue open and track it as an enhancement so we can update it once support is added.
Thanks again for the feedback and for helping us improve the experience.

Bug Description
Docs claim that fab cli offers full schema coverage for lakehouses. https://microsoft.github.io/fabric-cli/commands/tables/#:~:text=.-,Lakehouse,-(full%20support)
However, table load command fails while loading data to a schema-enabled lakehouse from /Files.
fabric-cli version

Steps to Reproduce
Create a schema-enabled lakehouse.
Use table load --file /Files/ command. It will error out reporting that schema-enabled lakehouses are not supported.

at=parquet
Loading 'dummy' table. It may take some time...
x table load: [UnsupportedOperationForSchemasEnabledLakehouse] The operation is not supported for Lakehouse with schemas enabled
Expected Behavior
See Steps to reproduce section for the details.
Actual Behavior
See Steps to reproduce section for the details.
Additional Context
Ideally, I should be able to provide full lakehouse table path which includes // so that I can use table load command.
