Unable to Install Microsoft Foundry Local via Winget

I attempted to install winget install Microsoft.FoundryLocal . Despite multiple attempts (three so far), the installation never completes.

• System: Windows 11
• Winget version v1.10.390
• Internet connection is stable and fast, so network speed shouldn't be a bottleneck

Having the same issue. Tried multiple times.

It starts installing the dependency, reaches 25% or 10% or even 1% and then stalls until it times out.

Continuing from my last comment, I tried to install the dependency package directly - Microsoft.VCLibs.Desktop.14 [>= 14.0.33728.0] via Powershell 5.

Invoke-WebRequest -Uri "https://aka.ms/Microsoft.VCLibs.x64.14.00.Desktop.appx" -OutFile "$env:TEMP\Microsoft.VCLibs.x64.14.00.Desktop.appx"

Add-AppxPackage -Path "$env:TEMP\Microsoft.VCLibs.x64.14.00.Desktop.appx"

It ended up throwing an error.

Essentially, a newer version of the package is already installed.

Use the -Dependency parameter to Add-AppxPackage:

# Download the package and its dependency
$releaseUri = "https://github.com/microsoft/Foundry-Local/releases/download/v0.3.9267/FoundryLocal-x64-0.3.9267.43123.msix"
Invoke-WebRequest -Method Get -Uri $releaseUri -OutFile .\FoundryLocal.msix

# Install the Foundry Local package

(Replace x64 with arm64 as needed.)

To diagnose further package installation problems, in an elevated Powershell instance, use Get-AppxLog | Out-File thelog.txt and share along the thelog.txt. (You can read the log and remove personal information if you'd like.)

Running into a related issue: winget install works on my end ...

The current system configuration does not support the installation of this package.

Machine scope support would be useful e.g. to include Foundry Local in a Dev Box image.

A system-wide install appears to be generally possible when using the installer directly:

For people who misses dependencies: if winget cannot automatically get the deps for you or if your machine does not have winget, you can get the latest version of the deps from https://github.com/microsoft/winget-cli/releases . You should get the DesktopAppInstaller_Dependencies.zip file and install all the things inside of it. Microsoft.VCLibs is there.
