Request not captured when consuming from Azure Event Hub using Kafka

Expected behavior
A Consume action from Azure Event Hub over Kafka gets logged as a new Request

Actual behavior
We only get TRACE entries of such execution currently, no actual request

Subscribe & Consume to an Event Hub (Topic) from Azure Event Hub over Kafka

If we send / produce to Event Hub Topic over Kafka it is correctly registered as below, but consume/listen do not register any new request or coorelation

hey @zoomingrocket, can you check this against 3.2.5-BETA (which updates to the latest underlying OTel agent), and if that's not working can you provide a repro that we can use to troubleshoot this?

@trask - Tried with 3.2.5-BETA, but no luck. Do see a lot of traces logged for kafka consumer polling starts but no request created for each consumed message delivered.
I see documentation says we can register a custom request from 3.2 onwards using opentelemetry api, so is there an example of how to do same?

Also, is there a way to specify custom java package or methods to be included? We are using COTS so no scope for code modification.
Something like this specified in Otel Doc- Creating spans around methods with otel.instrumentation.methods.include

@trask - Any guidance on this? We are using proprietary middleware COTS so we know the classes & methods which starts a new request, but not sure how we can tell the agent to span around it :)

We tried using Java SDK and manually constructing a request and dependency but results from it, dont look promising, and duplicate dependencies are captured. Looking for some input on how we can work around this bottleneck

We are using COTS so no scope for code modification.

This makes things difficult. Does the COTS use any standard Java libraries, e.g. servlet, apache camel, etc that we (or upstream OpenTelemetry) may already have instrumentation for?
