As more aspects of our daily lives move online we find that the tools and services we use are becoming a repository for information we rely on.

In the early days email was the primary tool for online communications, and has evolved into a repository for documents, links and other historical records. Since then we have spread our information across multiple tools and services, leading to increasing challenges for archiving and long-term management.

Jot is a framework that may be integrated into online applications as a standard mechanism for information storage and retrieval. It imposes a standard structure on different kinds of information without dictating where information may be stored.

Structure types

The type of information we rely on today is extremely varied and contextual, which means that we will always add more systems and services. However Jot attempts to address different common use-cases that may be widely applicable.

Communications

Systems like email, instant messaging, voice and video communications hold a wealth of knowledge that is critical and often legally binding to store securely.

Workflow

Ticketing systems and issue trackers provide an important tool for implementing processes and procedures around compliance and job management.

Asset and inventory management

Inventory systems are extremely important for many businesses to track and maintain a supply chain

Scheduling

Job management and coordination is an important aspect of a well-choreographed process. Whether it be systems or people scheduling time to work together is important as is being able to record outcomes of scheduled events.
