Issue description:
I am using microG as a replacement for Google Play Services.
However, Google Play Store keeps trying to automatically update
Google Play Services (com.google.android.gms).
This happens repeatedly and causes unnecessary background data usage,
even though microG is already installed and working.
I would like to know:
- Is this expected behavior when using microG?
- Is there any official or recommended way to prevent Play Store from attempting
to update or replace Google Play Services in this case?
What I tried:
- Disabled auto-updates in Play Store (Didn't work with Google Play Services (com.google.android.gms) )
- Restricted background data usage
Suggested improvement:
One possible way to avoid this behavior might be to set the versionCode of future
microG (GmsCore) releases higher than the official Google Play Services version.
This could prevent Google Play Store from detecting it as an outdated app
and repeatedly trying to update or replace it.
I’m not sure if this is technically feasible or aligned with the project goals,
but I wanted to suggest it in case it makes sense.
