Unless your GPS is being spoofed there isn't really a downside to syncing more often with GPS. I understand the RTC is very stable, but especially with powersaving now clock drift is worse, we should sync more often.

With powersaving ON the clock drift is a real issue, we should use GPS to sync the time.
Unless your GPS is being spoofed there really is no downside. And if your GPS is being spoofed from the start your time would be wrong anyways.
