Using @vue/cli version 3.8.4, created new Vue project
Copied over components, styles, store, router, etc in new Vue CLI 3 site. Added necessary packages to get things working.
Make a local plugin to write your own wrapper around build and do the async fetching of data before actually running the prerender and build (see this issue: vuejs/vue-cli#3328)
