[BUG] Text in span tags not rendering correctly in between markdown markers #840

  • I have searched for similar issues in both open and closed tickets and cannot find a duplicate.
  • I have read the documentation and cannot find an answer.

Describe the bug
The text in between any HTML tag, when located in between bold or italic markdown syntax markers, does not follow the markdown formatting.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Simply have any text encased in HTML tags located in between either bold or italic markdown markers. E.g. "*Hypothetically enormous <strong>baguette</strong> is a floccinaucinihilipilification.*"

Expected behavior
The text in HTML tags that are nested in between markdown markers should follow the markdown formatting. The following example was performed in Markdown Live Preview :
