@turt2live I think you are the most likely person on the SCT to have concerns over this approach - could you have a look?

The letter of the process and spec would indeed make this a breaking change, though honestly given the data and my own inclination that it'd be fine, I don't mind counting it as backwards compatible for spec purposes.
