[I have to try multiple times to enter Matlab from Kubeflow]

Summary

I have been trying to connect kubeflow to Matlab but as I enter Matlab, the Status keeps showing as not running. Do not know how to rectify this even after signing in and out multiple times.

Dear @emman55,

This issue is happening because there is no MATLAB on path which is a pre-requisite for MATLAB integration for Jupyter. One of the quickest ways to resolve this issue would be to build a custom docker image by extending one of the base images (for e.g. kubeflownotebookswg/jupyter-scipy) as mentioned in the kubeflow guide.

Here is an example Dockerfile that I used to build such a docker image:

Using this dockerfile, one can build a docker image that has MATLAB on path in this container using MATLAB Package Manager. This image can then be pushed to one of the public registeries (e.g. ghcr.io) and then accessed as a custom image in the Notebook server.
