Lexical text search and classification library for .NET (net8.0): - Core: SearchDocument/SearchResult/SearchOptions, ITextIndex, ITextScorer, ITextSearchEngine, ITextClassifier seams - In-memory inverted index with corpus statistics - RankedTextSearchEngine with TF-IDF, BM25, boolean and query-likelihood scorers - SIMD-accelerated tokenizer (SearchValues + IndexOfAnyExcept, Ascii fast path), NFKD normalization, stop words, pluggable IStemmer, optional n-grams - NaiveBayesClassifier with Laplace smoothing - LexiSharp.Postgres: tsvector + GIN + unaccent full-text engine (Npgsql) - LexiSharp.Hybrid: federated engine, Reranking/Weighted/RRF mergers, IEmbeddingProvider seam (external embedding computation by design) - Benchmarks (BenchmarkDotNet) and xUnit suite (66 tests, Postgres gated by env)
Introduce a post-retrieval re-ranking seam: an IReranker receives the shortlist an engine already selected and returns a better order, while RerankedTextSearchEngine decorates any ITextSearchEngine with over-fetching and final-score guard rails (NaN/infinite/zero scores, MinimumScore, Limit). The reranker owns the result order; the decorator only filters and trims, so order-only strategies stay intact.
MaximalMarginalRelevanceReranker implements the classic greedy MMR selection (relevance vs. redundancy via cosine similarity), keeping original scores and never penalizing candidates without vectors. CascadeRerankPipeline chains any number of IReranker stages with per-stage trimming, final limit and score threshold, and nests arbitrarily since it is itself an IReranker.
MetadataFilter expresses single-field predicates over document fields (equal, not-equal, contains, numeric-or-ordinal greater/less than) and SearchOptions carries an AND-composed filter list. The stock engine gates the corpus before any relevance math is paid; decorators and the hybrid inherit the filters through their option copies.
LexicalSimilarity provides pairwise token-set measures (Jaccard, Sorensen-Dice) reusing the library tokenizer, and a character trigram similarity following the pg_trgm padding convention — near-duplicate detection and fuzzy matching without any index. LevenshteinDistance complements them with a rolling two-row edit distance.
IKeywordExtractor pulls the most representative terms out of a single text. TfIdfKeywordExtractor scores terms by in-text frequency, optionally demoting corpus-frequent words when built over an ITextIndex (same smoothed IDF as the TF-IDF scorer). TextRankKeywordExtractor builds a weighted co-occurrence graph over a sliding window and ranks nodes with PageRank until convergence — deterministic, corpus-free.
RetrievalMetrics gains ReciprocalRankAtK (average over queries for MRR), AveragePrecisionAtK (average for MAP), and a graded-relevance NdcgAtK overload with exponential gains (2^rel − 1) against the ideal ordering — complementing the existing binary metrics.
