Transient error message while enabling magit log option

I'd like to add 'Search case-insensitive' to the magit log transient menu. I can display the red and green 'levels', and if I enter, for example, '-n' or '-A', I see a prompt in the mini-buffer asking for a value:

Set level for 'magit-log:-n':

However, when I try the same approach with -i, I get this message:

Wrong type argument: (or eieio-object class), nil, obj

I've tried each infix argument in the list, and '-i', '-I', '=m', '=p', '-D', '-f', '/s' are others that fail and show the same error message.

I'm running emacs28 with native compilation on an M1, and the latest magit and transient from melpa.

Error (transient): Inconsistent transient state detected.
This should never happen.
Please open an issue and post the shown command log.
