Wayland Laptop Bug - Inactive/Idle Screen Brightness Dim Doesn't Revert When Active Again

Every once in a while, as i'm using Mint on wayland, I'll notice my screen brightness randomly, permanently dims, where it wouldn't on the normal cinnamon session.

I'm able to adjust it back up afterwards.

I believe this is being caused by the Power Management setting that dims the screen after an idle timeout. Only, after this happens, it's not resetting the brightness back to its original value when input is detected.

Steps to reproduce

• Log into a wayland session on a laptop
• Ensure Power Management setting for Brightness > On battery, dim screen when inactive is set
• disconnect AC power / be on battery power
• Wait for screen idle timeout to occur
• After screen dims, move mouse / input on keyboard, and see if screen reverts brightness

Expected behavior

Screen dims, then brightens again after activity

This issue is still present on Mint 22 with Cinnamon 6.2.9 and it seems to also dim even while using the laptop.

Got exactly the same issue. Indeed also when i use my laptop. It looks like it did not detect the mouse movement and so on. Also goes my screen to black after some time. I think it will switch off my screen because no movement. Sometimes i can restore it to insert the DC adapter and then remove the DC adapter.

This usually does the trick for me 👍🏼

I understand that the best workaround for now is to disable or delay screen dimming in the "Power Management" settings.
