30 second delay when suspending pc after installing cinnamon 6.6.7

After installing cinnamon 6.6.7+zena There is a significant delay whenever I manually suspend my pc. I rolled back to Cinnamon 6.6.6 and the issue is gone (I plan to stick with that version for now). On 6.6.7 the pc does eventually go into suspend mode but it freezes for about 20 to 30 seconds after I click the suspend button. Everything else seems normal when I wake the computer from sleep. My specs are as follows: CPU 5600x, GPU rx9070xt, RAM 32GB DDR4, Motherboard MSI B550M Mortar, Mint 22.3, Kernel 6.17.0-14-generic. If you need any additional info about my system or specific logs let me know and I'll do my best to share it. Thank you so much.

Steps to reproduce

1. Update to cinnamon 6.6.7+zena
2. reboot
3. login
4. go to the shutdown menu
5. click suspend
6. everything freezes for about 30 seconds before the pc eventually goes into suspend mode
7. when waking from suspend everything seems to behave normally

Expected behavior

1. Update to cinnamon 6.6.7+zena
2. reboot
3. login
4. go to the shutdown menu
5. click suspend
6. pc should go into suspend almost instantly

Additional information

Rolling back to Cinnamon 6.6.6 resolves the issue. Cinnamon 6.6.7 is the root of the issue.

For additional information, I can confirm this issue. 
I have exactly the same problem after updating to cinnamon 6.6.7 except that the delay is about 10-12 seconds for me instead of 20-30, and my specs are different.

Specs:
CPU i5 8400, GPU rtx3060, RAM 24GB DDR4, Motherboard Asrock H310M-HDV, Mint 22.3 cinnamon, kernel 6.14.0-37-generic.

Additinal information:
Rolling back to the previous cinnamon version with using timeshift resolves the issue.

You're right about the delay. I just timed mine. It took about 12 seconds (Not 20 or 30 like I originally estimated). Hopefully this bug gets fixed soon. Thanks for sharing.

gsettings set org.cinnamon.SessionManager debug true

Then reboot, log in, attempt to suspend. Then look at .xsession-errors - there will be much more logging there, feel free to trim out everything before it says 'about to start cinnamon'.

Is there any delay when trying to restart, shutdown, logout or hibernate(if available)? Or just suspend?

Have you both updated cinnamon-session to 6.6.2 also?

I entered " gsettings set org.cinnamon.SessionManager debug true" then rebooted. After login I suspended the system. After suspending, I made a copy of the xsession-errors file. I didn't see any .xsesson-errors but I attached it regardless.

I am in fact running cinnamon-session 6.6.2.

The delay only happens when I'm running cinnamon 6.6.7. If I run cinnamon 6.6.6 combined with cinnamon-session 6.6.2 there is no delay when putting the computer into suspend mode.

There is no abnormal delay when shutting down, restarting, or logging out.

I tried the restart and shutdown option - they have no delay. Only Suspend has about 12 seconds of delay. Hibernate option isn't available for me.

I'm also running cinnamon-session 6.6.2. The version 6.6.2 combined with older cinnamon works fine, no delays after clicking suspend button. Only cinnamon-session 6.6.2 combined with cinnamon 6.6.7 creates the issue.

Interesting... the delay seems to be in activating the screensaver.

Can you uncheck 'Lock the computer when put to sleep' in Cinnamon's screensaver settings?

Then try again.

Ok I think I know what's happening, i'll see what I can do.

You're on the right track with the screensaver theory. When I turned off "Lock the computer when put to sleep" the delay is gone.

Just before I saw your last post I decided to try another experiment. I entered the command "systemctl suspend". The computer goes into suspend without delay. So the delay only happens when I use the graphical shutdown menu AND have "Lock the computer when put to sleep" enabled.

After unchecking that option, I also had no delay after suspending the pc. But after waking it up, it didn't ask me about password as it usually did so it went straight to the desktop.
