Bug description

When I rename file in Nemo and want to switch keyboard layout, renaming is cancelled as when pressing Esc.

Steps to reproduce

Add at least 2 layouts
Start rename file in Nemo
Switch layout with keyboard combo
Renaming will be cancelled as with pressing Esc

Expected behavior

Switching keyboard layout when rename file should be possible

I have the same issue. It's impossible to use characters from both layouts in the filename.
I had the same issue in LM22.2 when I had manually messed up with the XKB and IBUS (don't remember what was the default and what I added) but when I disabled the non default the renaming became functional again. Could be that now LM22.3 uses the other keyboard input method.
I consider this bug important because you may need to add characters in the filename from more than one languages

I have removed ibus completely from the system and the problem is not solved. Also layout change during file renaming on desktop works as expected so I confirm it is a NEMO issue

After doing some experiments I verified that this probably is not a cinnamon issue but a nemo issue, so I opened a new bug in the nemo issue queue. Please see the link above...

I am not sure that it's specifically a Nemo problem. I use the Albert launcher and it loses focus when I change the layout in the search field, in the same way as in Nemo. So I think the root cause is the same for both.

In Nemo 6.6.3 (with cinnamon 6.6.6), I just realized that renaming a file or folder fails in list view, but doesn't fail in icon view.
