feat(zed): experimental Zed Hosted AI provider (use at your own risk) - #6362
Conversation
中文:复用 Zed 账号凭据接入托管模型并保留真实 UAT 与条款风险边界
Scrub upstream error bodies on the account lookup and LLM token exchange, and route fetch and body-read rejections on those calls and on the /completions fetch through scrubZedRejection. A rejection that carries neither value is rethrown by identity, so a clean abort stays the same object; one that carries either is replaced with the same name (a DOMException stays a DOMException) and numeric status, without cause. …t presets provider-routes.ts sits at the 2000-line file-size threshold with no cap, so the Zed probe moves to zed-provider-probe.ts behind a one-line dynamic import and the file ends at 1999 lines. The registry now holds 101 presets (83 key-based, 14 OAuth), so the anchored count sentence in all eight provider guides, all eight quickstarts and the structure ops record follows. The provider guide now lists Zed Hosted AI with Cursor, Kiro and Nous Portal as login-only, so the billing-claims check follows the sentence. Co-authored-by: Andrew <shiyuanwang@ucsb.edu> Co-authored-by: Andrew <andrewwangmail@gmail.com>
# Conflicts: # structure/providers-and-adapters.md
The access snapshot now carries providerUserId, Zed's own user_id from the login callback. Transport, catalog discovery and the connection probe used the store slot id, a hash, so Zed rejected every real account. The completion stream fails closed: a malformed or non-object frame, an oversized unterminated frame, a partial trailing frame, or an EOF with neither the stream-ended status the request asks for nor a native terminal becomes a provider-native error. Nothing is forwarded after a terminal. Zed catalog calls now carry an 8 s deadline (and the request abort in the adapter), the manual-paste login branch stops once the race settles, and the GUI account label keeps only the brand. Review findings on #6362.
Mid-stream failure statuses and formatErrorBody passed upstream text only through the generic redactor; they now also remove this request's Zed token and user id. Corrects the stream comment: frames after a native terminal event still pass because Chat-with-usage sends a usage chunk after finish_reason. Follow-up to the independent security review of 77a58ee.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
State both uses of the live model roster.
Line 1179 says the roster is used for picker metadata “only,” then says the live provider field supplies the backend family. In src/adapters/zed.ts (Lines 224–377), buildRequest resolves the catalog and passes it to providerFromCatalog, so the roster also informs backend-family selection. Remove “only” and describe both roles.

Summary
Adds Zed Hosted AI (experimental) as an opt-in OAuth provider, carried from #5912 by @andrew05060414. A user who signs in with
ocx login zedcan route Codex or Claude Code requests to the models included in their Zed plan. Without a Zed login, nothing changes: the provider stays inactive and is not added to any default. This is an unofficial, use-at-your-own-risk (UAYOR) bridge. It is not endorsed by Zed, it spends the signed-in account's hosted-model entitlement outside the Zed editor, and Zed may limit or suspend the account. The maintainers chose to ship it on that basis. The dashboard routes Zed through the elevated ToS-risk gate: login stays disabled until the user ticks the risk acknowledgement. The provider guide, the provider configuration reference and the adapter reference say the same.
What the provider does:
src/oauth/zed.ts) and keeps a durable account identity.src/providers/zed.ts)./completionsenvelope, and translates the streamed events back (src/adapters/zed.ts).Maintainer changes on top of the original carry:
/completionsfetch, go throughscrubZedRejection. A rejection that carries neither value is rethrown as the same object, so a clean abort keeps its identity. One that carries either is replaced, keeping its name (anAbortErrorstays aDOMExceptionAbortError) and any numericstatus, and the original is not kept ascause.src/server/management/zed-provider-probe.tsbehind a one-line dynamic import, becauseprovider-routes.tshas no size cap and sits at the 2000-line threshold. It ends at 1999 lines.structure/ops/docs-and-release.md.Supersedes #5912.
