Summary

OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Sol on 2026-09-29 as the upgrade to GPT-6 Sol; Astra and Luna did not get a 6.1 release. This PR lists it everywhere GPT-6 Sol is served, moves every GPT-6 Sol default to it, and routes TokenLab models over the wire each one declares.

GPT-6.1 Sol rows (facts from the OpenAI model page, pricing page and openai/codex models.json after #49318, checked 2026-09-30):

  • Native Codex row pinned verbatim in roster-pinned-models.json: GPT-6.1-Sol, low..ultra, default effort low, 272,000 / 872,000 context, ungated.
  • OpenAI API (openai-apikey): 1,050,000 context, 922,000 input, 128,000 output, low..max.
  • OpenRouter (live 1,050,000 window, Fast-capable), GitHub Copilot (GA 2026-09-29, Responses wire), metadata rows for OpenAI, OpenAI Codex, Copilot, Kilo, OpenRouter, Vercel, OpenCode Zen, and preemptive Bedrock/Cloudflare rows.
  • Preemptive CodeBuddy, Kiro and Devin (gpt-6-1-sol) seeds, labelled like the GPT-6 and Sonnet 5.5 rows; live discovery replaces them.
  • Price: $2 input, $0.10 cached (half of GPT-6 Sol), $2.50 cache write, $10 output, with the >272K long-context tier.
  • No gpt-6.1-luna or gpt-6.1-astra anywhere (their doc pages 404).

Default swap, the same move #5640 made from GPT-5.6 to GPT-6:

  • DEFAULT_SUBAGENT_MODELS is now Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, Luna.
  • Roster migration v3 replaces a bare gpt-6-sol in stored rosters once, in place and without duplicates; routed ids keep their spelling, and GPT-6 Sol re-added later stays.
  • Configured natives (providers.openai.models) borrow GPT-6.1 Sol's row; docker smoke and docs follow.

TokenLab per-model wires (TokenLab's request of 2026-09-30; tokenlab.accepted_request_formats on GET /v1/models/{id}, re-checked live):

Models Codex Chat clients Anthropic clients
gpt-6-astra, gpt-6.1-sol, gpt-6-sol, gpt-6-luna, grok-4.7, deepseek-v4.1-flash, deepseek-v4-pro, kimi-k3, glm-5.3 Responses Chat Chat
claude-* Messages Messages Messages
everything else, incl. gemini-3.8-flash Chat Chat Chat

The provider-wide adapter stays the released Chat preset; an explicit modelAdapters entry still wins. Claude uses the endpoint-bound prefix pin Command Code already uses, so a retargeted TokenLab row is untouched. No delivery-policy header is sent. The JEV third-party decision backend TokenLab also asked about is deferred to its own unit (reasons in devlog/_plan/260930_gpt_6_1_sol_rollout/040_tokenlab_protocols.md).

Verification

  • bun run typecheck, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan, bun run skill:surface:check: pass.
  • Focused regression set through bun scripts/test.ts in fresh OPENCODEX_HOME/CODEX_HOME/TMPDIR: 20 catalog/roster/pricing files 1031 pass 0 fail; 10 TokenLab/wire/docs files 287 pass 0 fail.
  • New tests/codex-integration/gpt61-sol-rows.test.ts and tests/providers/tokenlab-protocols.test.ts (upstream URLs through handleResponses); 19 of 25 TokenLab cases fail with the source change stashed.
  • bun run test:changed in an isolated /private/tmp checkout: 28454 pass, 19 fail. 3 are ocx launcher graceful shutdown cases that fail identically on origin/dev; the other 16 (service install state, native grok/codex toggle) pass when their files run alone on this head (292 pass). Hosted CI is the full-suite proof.
  • Exact-head PR CI and a lane=all Cross-platform CI dispatch are required before merge; a read-only security review of the TokenLab credential path will be recorded here.

Checklist

  • Scope stays focused and avoids unrelated cleanup.
  • Docs or release notes were updated when needed.
  • Security-sensitive changes were reviewed for secrets, auth, and unsafe defaults.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added GPT-6.1 Sol to the native Codex catalog and supported provider listings, with model capabilities and pricing details.
    • Updated the default subagent roster to use GPT-6.1 Sol. Existing bare GPT-6 Sol selections are migrated once; GPT-6 Sol remains available.
    • Added TokenLab request routing based on model and request format, including Anthropic Messages routing for Claude models at the supported endpoint.
  • Documentation
    • Updated model, provider, adapter, and configuration guidance, including localized examples.

…fault

OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Sol on 2026-09-29 as the upgrade to GPT-6 Sol (Astra and
Luna did not move). List it wherever GPT-6 Sol is served: the native Codex row
(pinned verbatim from openai/codex models.json after #49318; low..ultra, default
low, 272K/872K), the OpenAI API (1.05M / 922K / 128K, low..max), OpenRouter,
GitHub Copilot (Responses), CodeBuddy/Kiro/Devin preemptive seeds, and the
Bedrock/Cloudflare/Kilo/OpenCode Zen/Vercel metadata rows. Price it at $2 / $0.10
cached / $2.50 write / $10 with the long-context tier.

Move every GPT-6 Sol default to GPT-6.1 Sol: the subagent roster default, the
configured-native template, docker smoke and docs. Roster migration v3 swaps a
bare gpt-6-sol in stored rosters once; GPT-6 Sol stays selectable.
TokenLab publishes per-model request formats (tokenlab.accepted_request_formats on
GET /v1/models/{id}). Keep the released Chat preset as the provider-wide wire, and:

- send gpt-6-astra, gpt-6.1-sol, gpt-6-sol, gpt-6-luna, grok-4.7,
  deepseek-v4.1-flash, deepseek-v4-pro, kimi-k3 and glm-5.3 over Responses for
Responses inbound (Codex); Chat and Anthropic clients keep Chat, and an
  explicit modelAdapters entry still wins;
- pin claude-* ids to Anthropic Messages (/v1/messages, x-api-key) through the
  endpoint-bound prefix pin Command Code uses, so a retargeted row is untouched;
- leave gemini-3.8-flash and every other model on Chat.

No delivery-policy header is sent; the API key policy stays authoritative.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 0a809

The TokenLab guide may mislead users into thinking a Chat override works for Claude models at the canonical endpoint. Clarify the docs before merging. Otherwise the change looks safe, pending CI results.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 0a809

The change alters persisted defaults and request formats while retaining configured destinations and credentials in the reviewed paths. No introduced security issue was established, but incomplete access-control and failure-recovery coverage leaves limited residual uncertainty.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — In the traced paths, requester-controlled model selection affects request serialization and endpoint suffix within an already resolved provider. It does not itself select a new credential owner or arbitrary upstream host. The relevant exposure remains requests and data sent using that configured provider authority; broader deployment exposure was not established.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The inspected public Chat route resolves listener-specific admission, rejects absent admission and disallowed origins, and acquires an admitted turn before dispatch. Chat model-scope checks occur before per-model wire selection. This establishes the inspected Chat control ordering, not complete authentication coverage for every inbound variant.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — The existing startup fallback does not distinguish unpublished failure from post-publication bookkeeping failure. Consequently, disk can contain the rebased migrated document while startup returns its older projection. The string-write path also lacks parent-directory synchronization. These are bounded recovery limitations in reused persistence behavior; no newly introduced security exposure was established.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Consider publication-aware startup recovery that reconciles committed configuration instead of reverting to an older projection, with coverage for bookkeeping failure after rename and concurrent edits. This would strengthen existing configuration-authority recovery rather than remediate a verified new vulnerability.

Security review (read-only, independent reviewer on gpt-6-sol high) of the TokenLab wire change at ace668894b: PASS.

  • Destination: the Claude claude- pin applies only while the TokenLab row points at https://api.tokenlab.sh/v1 (src/types/wire.ts endpoint-bound prefix rule); the Responses defaults apply only on the matching registry transport. A retargeted row keeps its existing Chat route. Outbound sends use manual redirects, so a 3xx does not resend the key.
  • Headers: Chat and Responses send the key as Authorization: Bearer; Messages sends x-api-key. No new body, header, key or account-id logging; request-log error text stays redacted.
  • Forward/OAuth: the TokenLab defaults do not apply to a forward- or OAuth-authenticated row; caller credentials are forwarded only for the canonical OpenAI forward destination.

P1 Badge Update the Docker smoke migration version

When the docker smoke job starts the container, the new migration writes subagentModelsVersion: 3, but this stateProbe oracle still expects version 2 alongside the newly updated model list. During the first-ready phase, the comparison therefore throws startup oracle mismatch, causing the required Docker smoke job in .github/workflows/ci.yml to fail on every run. Update this expected version to 3.

라인 - #6252(feat(codex): list GPT-6.1 Sol as a self-described native)는 이 PR의 네이티브 등록 부분을 더 좁게 한 앞선 작업이다.

tests/providers/tokenlab-protocols.test.ts · entries-extended.ts - TokenLab Responses 기본 목록은 2026-09-30 라이브 표의 고정 복사본이다.

Limit the Chat override instruction to Responses defaults.

This instruction also appears to apply to the claude-* row above. However, src/server/adapter-resolve.ts, Lines 35-38, applies the hard pin before it reads modelAdapters. At the canonical TokenLab endpoint, configuring "claude-sonnet-5-5": "openai-chat" therefore still selects Anthropic Messages.

State that modelAdapters overrides the Responses defaults, not the Claude hard pin.

Maintainer integration (owner-authorized release, 2026-09-30): merging at exact head 0a8096167c. PR-event checks: 28 success, 7 path-skipped, 0 failing (incl. Cross-platform CI run 36642801558 and docker smoke after the roster-version oracle fix). Security review: PASS (comment above). The lane=all dispatch 36642804429 on this head is still running; the owner asked to merge now and gate the release on Cross-platform CI of the merged/promoted commits instead.
