Atari800 please update to the latest version 5.2

The current libretro version of atari800 is the old version 3.1. Is there a chance to update it to the latest 5.2?

I second this request... especially since the latest available Atari800 core in RetroArch seems to have sound issues on Android / iOS

• RetroArch with the Atari800 3.1.0 8bfa3b8 core: distorted sound on all games
• Same RetroArch install but reverting back to the previous Atari800 3.1.0 20d59af core plays the games without sound issues on Android (can't go back to an older core on iOS)

Would you mind telling me about any features that are missing? Or are there any games that run on Atari800 but not on the RetroArch core?

It would be good if as many cores as possible on the Retroarch platform were upstream compatible.

From what I see the atari800 core is very old (10 years?) compared to the current 5.2 (latest). The emulator has received many fixes over the years.

It would be good if someone could update the core to the latest version. I wrote about this to people who are currently working on the standalone atari800 version, but they were not interested in updating the core. They suggested finding someone from the Retroarch community who knows about programming :)

Hi, Glad someone is at least looking at the (good old) Atari800... For me it's not really about missing features but, from what I've been told, the latest 5.2 core does not have the sound issues (distorted sound, very low volume) the current Atari800 core in RetroArch has. There is a workaround (going back to an even earlier version) but older means other bugs / less optimized and downgrading is not always possible (on iOS the RetroArch package comes with the default cores, these can't be changed). Would be good if the Atari800 core in RetroArch is the latest version with all optimizations so the "all in one" experience RetroArch delivers is the same for all systems.

Unfortunately, I don't think this could be upstream compatible, as they have diverged at some point in time.

However, I will look into the fixes concerning core emulation, as many of them seem to apply to specific ports, and I will apply them in the next releases. There are years of fixes to consider, so please be patient. ;)

I believe the audio issues were already addressed by this commit. If not, please let me know. On iOS, you can use the TestFlight version; it is the nightly build and is updated with the new cores and frontend.
