The upper part of the keyboard case is just clipped on; run something
around the seam on the underside of the keyboard to release it. The
keyboard itself is fastened to the lower part of the case with
double-sided tape. This is fastened strongly enough that attempting to
detach the keyboard from the case would probably bend it irreprably.
double-sided tape. Very gentle persuasion (probably some heat too)
removes it.

The keyboard itself looks like it comes out of a Thinkpad, with metal plates stuck
to it to add heft. The keyboard connects to a controller board in the top right.

Thanks for these pictures! Can you tell whether the TrackPoint module is removable? If so, this could be cool to build a modified ErgoDox with a TrackPoint :)

I didn't try, but I'm pretty sure you'd have a complete TrackPoint mechanism by just undoing those screws. All of the TrackPoint mechanism is mounted on that triangular plate, the keyboard just has a hole above it, as far as I could see.

You'd probably want to salvage U2 from the controller board also, which is used to interpret the strain gauge output on both the USB and Bluetooth keyboards.

Cool, thank you! That sounds like a promising use for a spare :)
