The lem-webview package exposed by the official Nix flake does not install a .desktop file or icon, so desktop application launchers do not discover Lem when it is installed from the overlay.
I am currently working around this locally with the following overlay:
(final : prev : {
lem-webview = final.symlinkJoin {
name = "${prev.lem-webview.name}-with-desktop";
paths = [
prev.lem-webview
(final.makeDesktopItem {
name = "lem";
desktopName = "Lem";
genericName = "Text Editor";
comment = "Common Lisp editor/IDE with high expansibility";
exec = "${prev.lib.getExe prev.lem-webview} %F";
icon = "lem";
terminal = false;
categories = [
"Development"
"TextEditor"
];
mimeTypes = [
"text/english"
"text/plain"
"text/x-makefile"
"text/x-c++hdr"
"text/x-c++src"
"application/x-shellscript"
"text/x-c"
"text/x-c++"
];
})
(final.writeTextFile {
name = "lem-icon";
destination = "/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/lem.svg";
text = builtins.readFile "${inputs.lem}/scripts/install/lem.svg";
})
];
meta = prev.lem-webview.meta;
};
})
This makes lem-webview show up normally in desktop application launchers.
