Table-of-contents sidebar gets squished

This is a Bug Report

Problem:

The table-of-contents sidebar gets squished more than it used to a few weeks back. On some pages it's ugly, on some pages it's so bad it's almost unusable like in https://kubernetes.io/docs/tasks/configure-pod-container/configure-liveness-readiness-startup-probes/ :

Proposed Solution:

I'm guessing a recent change broke the layout. I was not able to easily spot it in the commit history, but I bet it's there if you bisect and render the pages.

Page to Update:

• At least all English documentation pages.

Additional Information:

I'm running Windows 11 on a 14" 1080p 16:9 laptop screen with 125% scaling. I tried it both in Firefox and Google Chrome with similar results.

Thanks for reporting this. We recently updated the layout to align with Docsy as part of the change in 9c5abe1

I may be mistaken, however since this area of layouts was touched in that update it could be related. Perhaps @SayakMukhopadhyay might have additional context here.

From a quick look at the page it seems that the right hand menu appears compressed on the initial page load, however once the left hand menu is resized the layout returns to the expected width. This makes me wonder if the layout is getting squeezed during the initial render, possibly related to the existing menu splitter resize behavior.

Huh, that's a really weird behaviour. Most pages behave as expected when the splitter is resized, except this one page (or maybe more that we don't know yet). Seems like this page is using a different layout maybe, I will look into this.
